JORGE SHOULD BE FIRED!!! We were talking to him about our cancelled train and he literally just slammed the window on us and hung the “closed” sign IN THE MIDDLE OF CONVERSATION and refused talking ever again. This is so unbelievably rude. Crazy. How can someone be so mean? Everyone on the canceled train is super anxious about all sorts of connections, and they won’t try to help you at all. Jorge is just chatting and laughing for a long time in between every person while 10 people are waiting. Unbelievable. We were hoping to try out a scenic train… but we’ll just be sticking with flights from now on. Honestly, if Amtrak continues like this, nobody will ever use it again.

There’s a lot to appreciate in how smoothly things run here—boarding lines are clearly set up and trains load quickly and on schedule. However, the staff interaction I had came across as blunt and uninviting when asking about luggage. I witnessed the same employee unnecessarily berating an elderly, disabled passenger needing a walking escort from the designated seating area to the train. A bit more warmth and positivity would really elevate the experience.

Is wonderful to have passenger train service in California. Prices can be great for short trips or very expensive for a sleeper cabin.

I went to buy a train ticket and presented my valid SBCC student ID. Just one day earlier, I used the same card in Santa Barbara and received the student discount without any issue. Instead of calmly explaining the policy, the employee behaved aggressively, raised his voice at me, and suddenly closed the ticket window in my face, put up a “Closed” sign, and walked away while I was still talking to him. He literally told me “Get lost”, and completely refused to sell me a ticket, even after I clearly told him that I was no longer asking for a discount and just wanted to buy the ticket at full price. Because of this behavior, I had to ask the security guard for help. He was the only person who treated me with respect and tried to help me use the self-service machine, but unfortunately the train had already departed. I had to wait two hours for the next train, and because of this delay, I missed my flight from Los Angeles Airport and was significantly affected. Customers deserve respect at all times. Even if a discount is not available, that never justifies rude or insulting behavior. I hope this issue is taken seriously so it does not happen to others.

Eduardo the clerk at the Amtrak (Santa Fe Depot) in San Diego, California was very helpful and professional with purchasing our tickets and answering our questions! He offered suggestions to make our trip to the LA (Rams VS Chargers game). Thank you, Eduardo for being patient and friendly. Now, we can relax and enjoy the game!
