This is a great vintage store for a worthy cause. The selection is quite unique and the employees are lovely. Look out for the boss, Double Chin, he's a loud sweetheart! I loved my purchases here, and would love to drop in next time I'm in SF.

What a great find! And it’s even better than what you take in at first glance, with so much under the surface such as great jeans, furniture, and a nice selection of books (I know, nobody reads anymore). And the people there were friendly, helpful, and respectful. I’ll definitely be back!

Barely anything was priced. Really bad experience. Felt pressured and constantly watched the whole time. Picked up a few items, asked for a price, lady said I couldn’t buy it because there was no price tag. I feel like a reasonable price could’ve been made up. Maybe price things before putting them on the shelf.

Big Sylvia’s is an absolute visual delight—a treasure trove of eclectic finds from across the decades. Unlike other vintage or thrift shops in the City, Big Sylvia’s masterfully blends eras with bold colors, cheeky customization, and standout decor that makes every corner feel like a curated art experience—rather than your typical tchotchke shop experience. The vibe delightfully nostalgic but strikes a great balance between retro charm and modern flair. The heart and soul behind Big Sylvia’s (which is actually an opportunity shop for folks with disabilities!) is the charismatic founder and director, is Joe. He’s often on-site, and his creative vision is clearly what makes the space so welcoming, whimsical, and full of character. Each visit feels like a fresh discovery, and you can truly sense the passion that fuels this one-of-a-kind shop.

Big Sylvia's is the gem of Polk Gulch! Once you step inside, you better have at least 20 minutes to peruse because all the merchandise is incredible! Plus all profits go to the Human Services Agency which serves people with disabilities.
