National City is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and National City follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

We wanted something special for father's day. We saw the reviews on google maps and and decided to give it a try. We usually go to another steak house in the area but wanted to try something new. Walked in and the atmosphere was awesome. Live music and even some people dancing. Greeter took us to our table and it took them around 20 min to come over and take our order. We went for 2 entrees of the rib eye and lobster tail with mashed potatoes, clam chowder and a spaghetti with marinara sauce for son. Poor thing, we saw our server Sydney running around non stop, super busy; dont know if you guys were short staffed or what happened. She was awesome. They brought us the salad and the delicious clam chowder. Amazing. What kind of threw us off was that it took them around 40-50 minutes to bring us the food and to top it off food wasn't even hot, just mildly warm. Like if they served it and was laying on the counter for a while and cooled off. They finally brought the food and noticed that the lobster tail was switched with 4 shrimp and inquired about it and the waitress apologized and told us that kitchen had just told her that they were out of lobster tail as she was picking up the

La Maze is the last house standing for the mid century steak house vibe. Fans of the Red Fox Room, Albie's et al can reminisce at Cafe La Maze, as the menu, wine, and bar program mirror the level of selection and quality those establishments offered. This a family friendly, neighborhood gem that I'm glad is still serving it up.
