Today was my first time at the library and I did not enjoy it at all! Location is great. There’s public parking across the street, a cafe that opens until 2pm on the ground floor, and a Starbucks around the corner, so it was a good alternative to my usual library which was closed today. I sat at the 4th floor reading area and had the misfortune of a young couple with no library etiquette coming to the same zone! They were yapping the whole time, and when I respectfully asked them to keep it down, the girl had the temerity to be upset that I came to the library without noise canceling headphones! Perhaps someone can explain to me if the 4th floor allows noise, because they completely ruined my library experience. Maybe I should have moved, but I’d been here for over a couple of hours and well settled before they showed up. I was not surprised to find that they got into an altercation with another library guest the day before. The library should do better with checking disruptive users. I won’t be coming here when I need peace and quiet to study!

Incredible staff and resources. The location of the MLK Library itself is iconic in the heart of downtown San José. Steps away from San José State and Northeastern University, with easy access to City Hall. Wonderful programs and available rooms for a variety of diverse inclusive activities.

I went to use the computers and the printer but what a headache to use these things. Printer only accept cash in the first place then does not have wife or bluetooth does not have any cable to use it and the computers are not working only 1 of 4. The wepa app or whatever is called they overcharge you for 1 copy like whaaat. Not friendly at all and not outdated. Some of the employees are nice but some they don't know how to use the equipment either. Not coming back anymore.

A humongous library in the heart of San Jose. I think there were like, 8 floors? Which is even more than the San Francisco Main Library! There is endless study space and an infinite catalogue of books. It really feels like a center for everything, as you can also find programs, events, collections, and showcases here. I really liked their California collection! I think the library doubles as the college library for San Jose State, too, so there are some student resources and spaces. The building is really beautiful, and the view gets better the higher you go. The main reason I docked a star from the MLK Library is because I think it could be better maintained. Some floors were great, but other floors were awkwardly furnished and had missing chairs, broken outlets, empty bookshelves, and even spills and messes. Other than that, it’s a near-perfect library. Overall, 4/5.

The elevators, escalators, electrical outlets, and facilities are all excellent. I recommend the 8th floor for everyone. It has a nice view, natural light, and a quiet environment for studying. Make sure to bring wet wipes to clean the tables, as they tend to be a bit dusty.
