Old school Mexican restaurants are my jam, the big red leather booths, the dark lighting, mariachis wandering around serenading … I love it all. The food here is solid, and far more than any single human being should eat at once. Mole enchiladas are bomb.com, such a great sauce. And the green corn tamales were soft and fluffy. Not pictured here? The chips and salsa, which killed! Highly recommend!

A fantastic Mexican restaurant with an amazing atmosphere! The food was absolutely delicious, the drinks were excellent, and the location on Sunset Boulevard makes it even more special. It was the perfect way to kick off our time in Los Angeles this year. I highly recommend El Compadre to anyone looking for great Mexican food and a fun, authentic LA experience!

Food was quite tasty, including the crab enchiladas, which were my favorite. Service was pretty friendly, but was had some misunderstandings / a missed dish. Atmosphere was quite lovely, especially if away from the live band enough to enjoy their music but still have conversation.

This is a great restaurant with very authentic Mexican food. First time trying chile relleno, tamale and flan, all were fantastic. The atmosphere and design are beautiful, really gives off a rustic Mexican diner vibe. Highly recommend. The place was packed on a Friday evening so I had to eat in the waiting area. Calling before to book is recommended.

We visited a few days ago, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. They welcomed us with warm chips and fresh salsa — simple, but so delicious! We ordered the tostada de ceviche, beef taco, fish taco, and salmon taco. Everything tasted great, but the fish taco was the absolute standout — incredibly flavorful and perfectly made. For drinks, we tried the strawberry lemonade and the orange juice. The lemonade was definitely the winner. To finish off the meal, we ordered the Buñuelo Mexicano, and it was amazing. This dessert alone is enough to make us want to go back! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and a great experience.
