About False Idol
Hidden in plain sight, a step through an unassuming secret entrance within Craft & Commerce transports guests to False Idol’s faux tropical paradise complete with traditional Polynesian elements of fire & ice (including an indoor waterfall and flaming volcano). We enlisted a team of legendary tiki artists to fashion a fully immersive environment that pays tribute to the imagined “false idols” of mid-century American worship. 21 and up.
Located at 675 W Beech St, San Diego, CA 92101, False Idol operates as a bar serving San Diego in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as tiki bar, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
Eating out in the United States ranges from food trucks and diners to tasting-menu dining rooms, and a listing like this one is best judged on freshness, turnover and how consistent the recent reviews are rather than on decor. Most kitchens will adapt a dish for dietary needs if you ask. Many restaurants take reservations online; walk-ins are common at casual spots. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 everywhere.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 5 pm–1 am. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. No phone number is listed for this business, so the Google Maps link on this page is the best route for directions and any contact details Google has on file. More information is available on its website, falseidoltiki.com.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 1,581 reviews, which is a strong result for a bar in San Diego and suggests consistent service.
San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and San Diego follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

We had the pleasure of visiting False Idol in Little Italy this Friday night, and what an exceptional experience it was! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere and professionalism of the bartending team made the evening special. A very sincere thank-you to Bill, who provided outstanding service and made us feel genuinely welcome. We also enjoyed one of their special cocktails, the Saigon Sipper, and it was fantastic. It was flavorful, blended perfectly, and absolutely delicious. Definitely a drink we would recommend trying! We would also like to recognize Patrick, Kevin, Evie, and Desiree for their excellent contributions throughout the evening. Everyone worked together seamlessly, and their attention to service really stood out. False Idol is more than just a great tiki bar—it’s an experience. The atmosphere, the creativity behind the cocktails, and especially the people who make you feel welcome are what make it such a special place. Thank you, Bill, Patrick, Kevin, Evie, and Desiree, for making our Friday night such a memorable one. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back! 🌴🍹

This has to be the coolest bar I’ve ever been to. The bartenders are amazing and insanely knowledgeable, they had a ton of complicated drinks but they knew every single one of them. I got the Matchaloooha, which sounded cool, it was great but didn’t have a lot of matcha😂 I loved the whole experience and just went there by myself for my birthday, the bartender was very sweet and nice (I forgot his name I think it was John?) and was the only one to wish me that night! My first time being alone at a bar, it was fun! PS, they don’t serve food at all.

We came to celebrate my 33rd birthday and Crizel and team made our experience super memorable! The drinks were well crafted and delicious and the service was absolutely above and beyond. Honestly one of our best experiences in San Diego, we cannot recommend this fun tiki bar enough! Thank you Crizel and False Idol!!!

If you're in Little Italy, San Diego, definitely check out False Idol. It's a speakeasy within Craft and Commerce. An amazing tiki bar awaits you, which does escapism well and specializes in tropical cocktails. They have a large selection of rums and serve other beverages as well. A mixologists approach to the cocktail is taken, and fresh ingredients are prepared in-house. They have an amazing drink menu, featuring images of the staff, as well as the drink selections. If you're looking for an awesome tropical getaway, accompanied by great customer service, delicious well balanced cocktails and overall friendly people, this is your spot. It's drinks only, so plan solid nourishment accordingly. Definitely look into reservations, especially headed into the weekends, but they will accommodate walk-ins, depending on the crowds. Cheers and I'll definitely see you at the bar!

The atmosphere here is very unique, with a fully themed interior that makes the place feel different from typical bars. The cocktails were good, and there are a lot of options to choose from cocktails🍹 They also serve some light snacks, which is convenient if you want something small to go with your drink. It gets pretty busy, so making a reservation is recommended if you want to get a seat without waiting.
