Came here last night after seeing The Sound of Music at Broadway San Jose, celebrating a new job and life in general. We did not hold back. The Westholme Wagyu was the showstopper β€” that filet with the au gratin potatoes and cremini mushrooms is worth every penny of the occasion you invent to justify it. The Steak Diane was right there with it; the brandy-mushroom cream sauce is the kind of thing you keep going back to with a spoon after the steak is gone. Mongolian Beef was excellent too β€” the shaved filet with the garlic chips and slaw had a nice bit of brightness against everything else. And the lobster mac and cheese. I don't need to explain the lobster mac and cheese. Then we ordered four desserts. Yes, four. The chocolate decadence, the butter cake, the gluten-free torte, and an affogato. No regrets. The butter cake with the strawberries was my favorite, but I was outvoted at least once. Our server JP was fantastic β€” attentive, warm, made the whole night feel like an event without ever hovering. Genuinely made the evening. Perfect place for a celebration. We'll be back the next time life gives us an excuse.

For nearly $100 per person, Forbes Mill Steakhouse was a major disappointment. We ordered the 4 oz Wagyu filet mignon, Beef Wellington, crab cakes, Caesar salad, and Brussels sprouts, and every dish was simply mediocre. The biggest letdown was the lack of flavor. Even the Wagyu filet was surprisingly bland, with no depth of seasoning or flavor that justified the premium price. Overall, nothing we ordered demonstrated the level of culinary skill, technique, or thoughtful flavor development you’d expect from a high-end steakhouse. The meal was completely forgettable. The service was average at best. Nothing was particularly wrong, but it also lacked the attentiveness and polish that should accompany a restaurant at this price point. The atmosphere didn’t help either. The dining room felt dated, overly dim, and in need of a refresh. When you’re charging premium prices, guests expect an experience that stands out. Unfortunately, Forbes Mill delivered neither memorable food nor exceptional service.

This evening, my husband took me to a good steakhouse for our anniversary. He always made the note "No salt and Sauce on the side for my wife" on the reservation. So, I ordered Sea Bass for my Entree, and I asked to make it "Plain". The server knew about my special diet request, so he asked me if I would like to replace the seasoned rice to the steamed vegetables. I was so glad and said: " Yes, please." When I was eating my entree, just added some black pepper powder. And they made Salmon so nicely! The green sauce really went well with the salmon. There was a Creamy polenta cakes to go with the Salmon, so ingenuity. We love it. The appetizer of Jumbo Prawn is very fresh. Cesar salad is wonderful, too. The restaurant gave us a special dessert for our Anniversary, So nice of them. Greatly appreciated.

My husband and I went here for a date night and it did not disappoint. Lighting was bright enough that you can still see your food and read the menu. Dim enough that it's intimate. It's not a huge place, tables are fairly close to each other, but still private enough for your convo to be kept private (unless you're a loud talker). We made reservations beforehand, definitely recommend that. Service was great, our server was on top of things. He timed everything nicely and didn't come in during awkward mid bite moments to check in on us. We both ordered drinks, my husband ordered a Japanese high ball(?), I had the Mai Tai -- drinks are very strong (lol). We had crab cakes for the appetizer, mashed potatoes & brussel sprouts for sides, and warm fruit crisp with vanilla gelato for dessert. My husband had the 16oz ribeye and I had 6oz filet mignon & shrimp scampi, both in medium rare. Steaks were cooked nicely, a bit under seasoned but they have salt and pepper at the table so that worked out. There were some parts of the filet mignon that were a bit on the well side, but still soft because of the cut of meat. Crab cakes were very good! We wished there was more! It came in 2 patties
