Hotel is great but for a very upscale hotel it is a little disconcerting how they charge for stuff that should be included. I find it weird to charge guests for beach chairs at a 5 star resort. It is weird that they sell the chairs to people not staying at the hotel, but if they do that, fine, charge non-guests. Similarly strange to charge $80 per day for parking. When you fly first class, they don’t charge for the meal or your bag. They don’t even do that at low budget hotels, and most hotels of this caliber don’t do this

Beautiful, historic hotel! Huge shoutout to the manager Patrick who was wonderful- he genuinely wants to make each guests stay special and is committed to continuing the legacy of this exclusive beach front property. We also had a blast talking to Rachel, a server at the pool, who was attentive and also hilarious! Nobu was so good we dined there two nights in a row. We also did a ghost tour which isn’t usually my thing, but it was so interesting and we LOVED it! The guide was great and let people stay after the tour was over to answer questions. I highly recommend this beautiful property.

This is absolutely a five star hotel. We stayed in the beach village and had a lovely view of the beach/pacific. The staff were so lovely and accommodating. The reason I added four stars is the food onsite. It’s average at best and incredibly expensive. We have no problem paying a premium for food - but not for this lack of quality. We’ve stayed at many five star hotels and the Del offers easily some of the worst food we’ve had. We made every effort to eat on Orange Ave which is in walking distance and had incredible food by comparison (and way cheaper!). The Del is historic and gorgeous and worth the stay with the caveat the food does not match the luxurious nature of the hotel.

Yes, you should visit this property, even if you are not staying there or on the island. It is a stunning icon! I was awed by the gorgeous architecture and beautiful grounds. The beach is gorgeous, wide, and perfect for a stroll or sunset pics. Grab a drink at the bar or explore the shops. The whole area has its own vibe. They have their own Walk of Fame stars.
