I loved the new building that was used last year and was surprised when the old building was reopened because it was such a downgrade. Have stayed at this hostel for nearly 10 years but when they switched to the old one, I arrived to find myself locked out and the phone not working at all. I call now and it immediately hangs up on me. Thats such a bummer because this was the best hostel in San Diego and I only wanted to stay here but now I have to go somewhere else. Luckily that night, someone happened to be leaving the houses and let me in because I was absolutely terrified that I would be outside at night as a girl. The manager in charge apologized and even said the phone was disconnected sometimes. The old building had a private pod room that was nice but it was within a room that had its door open all the time and long term occupants. Going to the bathroom was a little embarrassing because it was past the living room so everyone watching TV saw you go in and even had someone try to get into my shower stall. I didn’t feel safe here like the new building at all. The bathroom on the 2nd floor was broken. Praying you get new building back up and running so I can stay there again.

The coolest place around!! This was my first time staying in a hostel and wow i had a great experience. The staff is super friendly!! The place is super nice, very clean. The reason why I picked this place was anymber of reasons first it’s right by the beach. Plenty of bars restaurants and it has daily activities and trips so it’s easy to meet other guests. Friday night was trivia night sat night they had a bungalow party with their sister hostel in pacific beach. It was the best experience ever!!! If you like a young vibrant crowd who is traveling solo this is the place to be.

Look no further, there's Dungeons&Dragons games at this house! As a single traveler, I felt very welcome and safe here. People are friendly and helpful. Booked the 'bear cave' which is a nice budget friendly single room option. Recommend!

This place is a steal for the price they offer! Compared to hotels nearby for upwards of $215 for a room this place was super affordable and only $99 for my boyfriend and i to have our own private room with a double bed. the staff was so friendly and welcoming and gave us great service and help with any questions we had upon arrival. i do agree with the other reviews that the walls are thin, however, they supply earplugs in the main office for free so at least they’re aware! we stayed in the annex house with public showers and public living spaces and i have to say everything was very clean and tidy and i was very impressed! with the location being walking distance from amazing downtown eats and little italy right around the corner this place you just have to stop by and stay!!
