If you've gotten this far and you're considering booking a session with Jon, do it. You won't regret it. The one-day planning session we did back in 2024 was by far the best financial decision I ever made. I spent lots of time before the actual meeting getting organized, collecting information about my finances, writing down questions and concerns and my thoughts on what I believed my financial picture looked like, and I sent all that to Jon. Then we had our call, and I was impressed to hear how carefully Jon and his associate had read my emails, how thoroughly he understood our situation, and how prepared he was to be productive. I can't remember how many hours we spent on the call, but not a minute was wasted. We were making progress the whole time. Turns out, I had a lot to learn and I had completely neglected some critically important aspects of my financial health. The “Bogle heads” approach to saving money has worked well for us. We retired recently and have been researching and developing an overall plan for the many changes and adjustments required for a secure and successful retirement phase of life. We are do-it-yourselfers and were looking for advice both to confirm our choices, and also to reveal choices we had not considered. We felt surrounded by circling, hungry sharks. Signing up for the “One-Day Financial Review” with John Luskin was interesting. Standoffish is too strong of a word, but he clearly wanted to make sure that the service he provides would be a good fit for our inclinations and our needs. That "soft sell" approach was part of what convinced us to go with him over the other services who used the "hard sell." Our experience proved that this was not a gimmick on his part. Of course, Jon is a competent financial advisor, but he also pushes you to consider the many other factors that need attention such as insurance, estate planning, healthcare, online security, etc. We appreciate the nudge and the advice. My wife and I worked with Jon and his One-Day Financial Review (we picked him after interviewing 4-5 other advisors) and he was even better than we had expected. Not only did his report highlight a number of things we'd never considered before (e.g., umbrella insurance), he provided a lot of helpful information to explain the logic behind each recommendation (with supporting resources to back it up). He fully tailored his report to our unique needs, was kind and courteous to work with, and was quick to respond to any follow-up questions.
