Traffic in Los Angeles peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. I leave my spacious suite, walk across lush flower-filled grounds, enter a gorgeous restaurant and have lunch with a famous playwright, a highly-regarded short story writer (I have him autograph a book he wrote I owned long before meeting him) a screenwriter with a long list of well-known titles in his IMDB, a performance artist who will have an exhibition later in the week at the Getty Museum, a former presidential speechwriter, and a lady whose husband owned one of the world's greatest classic car collections. We dine on prime rib, pistachio-encrusted salmon, asparagus, haricot-verts, Lyonnaise potatoes, a Cobb salad, white, red and rose wine, and choose from a selection of fantastic desserts. Have I just described leaving a bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel and having a delicious "power lunch" in the Polo Lounge? No, I am describing a typical midday meal at Kingsley Manor! The only difference between the Beverly Hills Hotel and Kingsley Manor, Kingsley has a friendlier more capable staff ( the ladies in the administration building could run a major corporation, trust me) and more interesting guests. Simply the best!

The food here is very good! Great variety, delicious home made soups, excellent coffee, lovely atmosphere. I like that they have table clothes and linens for every meal. They have surprise events like live sushi stations in the dining room. The chef comes around to tables occasionally to introduce himself and receive feedback. It's not restaurant food, which would be too salty and heavy for every day eating, but it's really nice stuff. I'm at Kingsley 3-4 times a week as an independent assistant and if my mother lived in CA, I would send her here.

Leaving your beautiful home where you lived happily and independently for 35+ years is emotional. Now imagine that the move is to an assisted living facility because you have Parkinson’s and your doctors and friends are concerned about the increasingly frequent falls you have sustained. That transition is almost certain to be traumatic, right? But Kingsley Manor is a very special assisted living facility. Thanks to Jeannie and her team, my dear friend’s move to Kingsley was amazingly smooth and he is now experiencing senior living at its best. Jeannie, who runs Kingsley with enthusiasm and a deep knowledge of her community and every resident, is a true angel. My husband and I know about this retirement community because 3 of my mom’s friends lived there. Before my mom passed away a number of years ago, we would often stay for a meal, where their choices of entrΓ©es are varied and always delicious, or my mom would visit with her friends in their rooms. Often, she joined them on the rooftop lounge and enjoyed the spectacular view spanning LA, from the Hollywood Hills through downtown, then all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Our friend was initially looking at retirement communiti

I have lived at Kingsley Manor for three years and I love it here! What is not to like? My little apartment is charming, the food is wonderful, the staff is helpful, and the other residents are terrific. I can honestly say that I have met as many interesting people here in the past three years, as I met in the eighty two years that preceded them. I have made good friends. Kingsley's dynamic staff offers great entertainment and educational programs, field trips to museums and other cultural events, and advice with physical and psychological problems. As I said, what is not to like?

I arrived here less than a month ago and I am thoroughly enjoying living here. The best and most important part of KIngsley Manor are the staff members! From the front desk, to the dining staff, cleaning staff and, of course, the people from maintenance, and whomever I forget at the moment, the Kingsley staff members are exceptional.! I love the top terraces on Leitzell Hall which right now are little too cool to stay on. I almost always enjoy the food and have congratulated the head chef on several dishes. I have to get used to spending three meals a day with so many people since I've lived alone for at least 25 years. It will take time to adjust to that. Kingsley Hall is only 7-10 minutes by car from one one part of my family, and sometimes one hour from my younger daughter on the Westside. I found to my surprise that I can walk in the neighborhood for my daily one half hour, and that there is a general market in the same block where you can buy practically everything. So much for my first impressions.
