I had high expectations for La Jolla Cove Hotel because of the location and the price, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The ocean view is absolutely beautiful, and the location is fantastic. However, for nearly $1,000 for a two-night stay, I expected much better service and transparency. When we arrived, there were two bottles of water in the room. In most hotels I’ve stayed at, the complimentary bottles are provided upon arrival, while any additional drinks in the refrigerator are clearly marked for purchase. The refrigerator in our room was completely empty, so we naturally assumed the two bottles were complimentary. After checking out, I was surprised to see a $10 charge for those two bottles. This should have been made much clearer to guests. Another disappointment was the ongoing construction. We booked a room with a balcony and ocean view to relax and enjoy the sound of the waves, but instead we woke up to loud construction noise. It made it difficult to enjoy the experience we paid a premium for. I believe guests should be informed in advance if construction will significantly affect their stay. The location and views are incredible, but the unexpected

Would not recommend if you are hoping to sleep in after a long day. We were hoping to sleep in after a super busy exhausting day and were woken at 7 am to loud persistent banging right on our wall. They offered us this room as an upgrade but felt we were downgraded by loud persistent hammering on the wall. Also the β€œupgrade” balcony with amazing view was a view of a construction pit with workers on their breaks. Also, just prepare to wait 40 minutes for valet to bring your car out. We have never used valet but did not know it took so long. We knew there would be some construction but extremely loud pounding right on our outside wall so early in the morning was excessive and super disappointing. Even with earplugs it was impossible to sleep in. Also, we were not supposed to check out till 11 but the housekeeping opened our door at 9 am when we were still trying to relax in bed after being woken up so early. This made us feel extremely uncomfortable. The video of the construction is only a small fraction of what we experienced. With this excessive of noise they should not be giving rooms to people. Very very disappointed.

We booked a king ocean view room. The room has no fridge, no microwave, no water, no complimentary anything. They charge you $45 a day for parking and dont even have anywhere to park. They offer valet which is not available when you need them. Dont even bother going, only good experience was the cleaning staff. Very thin walls you can hear everything going on around at all times. Be prepared to hike up and down a whole cliff anytime you want to walk to office. Wifi barely works.

When booking this hotel months in advance ( we booked this hotel for a wedding), not once did I see anything about there being extreme construction. The people at the front desk continued telling me that there were multiple banners on the website that states construction being done but, I am telling you, there was nothing stating that there was going to be construction. We were woken up at 7:30 am to jackhammering and the start of all the construction. I get that the construction is out of the hotel's hands when they start but come on, 7:30am?! On top of that, we paid $370 for a room and ended up with a window to the hall way, on the first floor at that. I was extremely disappointed with how much we were paying for a first floor room with no natural light/window. We had to keep the shades pulled the whole time because anyone could walk by and look in. Not only did we have all of those issues, the walls are beyond thin where we were woken up to our neighbors having relations at 3 am, sounding like they were directly in our room. Over all, I would not have booked this hotel now knowing all of the issues we were going to have, with the amount of money that we paid. When talking to the
