Wow PARKING WAS A NIGHTMARE! Show up at 4am for a parking spot. Also, anytime I would go in the water the lifeguard would come out and yell through a megaphone. The beach itself was beautiful β€οΈ very clean and flat. It was very easy to swim at this beach.

So beautiful! With the trip. Parking is difficult but possible, free in the lot. Stay for the sunset you won't regret it. Watch out for the seagulls. Leave no food unattended they are bold.

My favorite spot is Lifeguard Station 32! When my children were young, some surfed and others were just swimmers. Setting up our spot close to Lifeguard Station 32 worked well so that when the checkered flag was posted dividing swimming from surfing, we could just stay put. Lifeguard main station is lose by and bathrooms are just a 2-3 min walk in either direction! Outside Shower to leave the sand behind is on the side of the bathroom building. Occasionally, a vendor, or two, comes by ringing a bell to announce frozen treats and other snacks. La Jolla Shores Park is close to several other "must visit" spots along this part of the west coast.

Itβs a really nice place to spend quality time with your family without feeling pressured to follow a strict agenda or check off tourist attractions. The picnic area is very large, the sand is clean, and the water is clean as well. There are plenty of activities for all ages, including surfing, kayaking, boating, or simply playing ball on the beach. I like this place very much and often recommend it to newcomers who want to get a genuine feel for San Diego and its outdoor lifestyle.

Go here. It's a great beach with a long, paved path. There are a couple of bars and restaurants. A popular thing to do appeared to be group kayaking. We saw maybe 50-70 people having fun in ocean kayaks. These are rentals with instructors. There's a big parking lot but patience is a must because this beach is popular.
