Los Angeles is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Los Angeles is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I had heard great things about this restaurant, so I decided to try it. Unfortunately, my experience did not live up to my expectations. We waited a long time to be seated, even though the bartenders could clearly see us nearby, and no one acknowledged us. When the hostess finally came over, she was not very welcoming, there was no smile or warmth. After being seated, we waited again for quite some time before our server arrived. Our server was polite but very brief and seemed uninterested in providing attentive service. I noticed he was much more engaged and friendly with another table, which was disappointing. I ordered hot tea, and it arrived in a rusted teapot The tea had a metallic, rusty taste, which was not only unpleasant but also raised concerns about cleanliness and health standards. Despite the experience, I still paid and left a 20% tip, although the service did not feel deserving of it. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. Good food is important, but customer service and making guests feel welcomed are just as important.

We had a lovely time taking in the warm summer day on the covered patio, looking out across the street toward the Disney Concert Hall. Our server was gracious and thoughtful, and encouraged us to take our time enjoying our meal. Really appreciated his candid recommendations and calm, hospitable demeanor. He helped us decide between various options and we settled on the Moroccan Couscous Royale - an absolutely fantastic dish full of warm spices and hearty portions of Merguez sausage, chicken, and tender lamb on a bed of seven different vegetables and fluffy couscous. The sauces and tart-sweet raisins were a fantastic accompaniment. I enjoyed a baklava latte, fragrant with cardamom, orange, and pistachio, while the husband had their pandan latte. For dessert the strawberries with chantilly whipped cream were juicy and fresh, presented with vibrant purple flowers and a wonderfully light airy crunch from coconut shortbread topping.

Everything about this restaurant is Just Right and a little more. The staff is gracious, welcoming, and hipster (without the tude). The music track is soothing, hypnotic, and danceable. The food is satisfying and delicious with reasonable portions. It’s located directly across the street from the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in DTLA, but is absolutely a world apart. It’s perfect for a before-concert gathering. You can bring out-of-town, adult guests here for a solid meal, or make this your after-hours place. You can’t go wrong here. Enjoy. I highly recommend this restaurant!

As we entered the front door, we felt a relaxing calm away from the downtown noise outside. The staff are friendly and efficient, but I think a little understaffed. The food was tasty and made with quality ingredients. The pizza crust was excellent, with a crispy browned crust and a fluffy soft chew inside. The meat entrees were flavorful, but could use a pinch more salt. The restaurant is a great lunch spot with a bar, patio and indoor booths. We exited through the gift/wine shop.

We had a great experience here and tried a couple standout dishes. The King Prawns Au Pastis were well cooked—plump, juicy, and served hot. The pastis sauce added a subtle anise note that was unique without being overpowering, balanced nicely with buttery and herbal flavors. The dish felt light yet flavorful, and while the brown rice paired well, it could have been slightly softer. The 8-hour braised lamb shank was incredibly tender basically falling off the bone. The cabernet sauce was rich and full-bodied with deep savory flavors. Paired with the smooth, buttery potato purée, it was a great dish overall. Definitely hearty and shareable. What really elevated the experience was our waiter, Bilal. He was amazing, super attentive, knowledgeable, and his recommendations were spot on. If you visit, definitely ask for him.
