Came in to the ER and was immediately seen. What was a precaution turned into a hospital stay. Fantastic staff from nurses, doctors, to housekeepers. Communication was very good. And I received really top care.

I would like to give one star, but I’m giving two because some of the ER staff were very good. I brought my MIL on Father’s Day aft and and they got us in right away. The nurse in charge of my mother-in-law, and the two MDs were excellent. however, there were 2 a trainees from EMS assisting. One trainee put a line into MIL arm, and there was quite a bit of blood not cleaned before he applied the transparent bandage. no hand sanitizer posted as you enter rooms. The same EMS trainee administer anti-nausea, and did not wear rubber gloves for the process. my MIL was admitted. We inquired re patient portal asking literally 8 staff, about the portal and not one person could answer how the portal was accessed. The next morning, a very nice lady in admitting portal is only available after discharge. Every other hospital has EPIC to access notes, radiology/ lab reports, etc. When we went to MIL room that morning, there was a sign above the door that said “contact isolation”. It took approx 20 min for RN to determine why it was posted. No vomit bags or extra pillows available on telemetry. Pillow needed a requisition. My visit to paradise valley emergency room was phenomenal! I was seen right away by the triage nurse who was very friendly and professional, and he got me to my bed immediately, which in my experience has never happened! When I got to my room, I met my nurse, Jaime. He is hands down THE most compassionate nurse I have ever met. It showed in everything he did. He used a pleasant tone of voice and always explained what he was going to do before he did it. He checked in often. He was extremely focused and careful while placing my IV. He asked if I wanted an extra blanket, I didn’t want to make him work harder so I said “if it’s ok?” He came back with the blanket and made a cradle of heat around my head with it. This act of kindness made me cry. If I could give a million star review, I would. If paradise valley staff are reading this, please consider giving Jaime a raise. Nobody deserves one more!

This review is solely for the laboratory part of PVH. I am in externship and call to have certain things faxed to us. Only ONCE was I treated fairly. They constantly talk over me and then ask the same things they just spoken over me about an extra 2-3 times. I am going to school to become a Medical Assistant, I actually have a DESIRE to help people and want to make sure everyone who calls and every patient who comes in is respected and comfortable. They don’t even say “thank you have a good day”, they just hang up the phone. I truly hope something is done about it because I can’t imagine how patients feel after being cut off when speaking.

The emergency room they got me back right away but after I was back I felt ignored, It took about six hours for them to get me a up to a room. There's no way to call anyone or get out of the bed in the emergency room so you're just stuck there if you're by yourself then I'll check on you to see if you need to go to the bathroom or anything. Then when I got up to the room the bed was broken and the air conditioning is leaking plus the bedside table is broken so I need to set up in bed to use it. The food is terrible and a lot of times not on time medications from the pharmacy are constantly delayed, some there's a seam on top of things while others do not. Seems like they're always short-staffed. I came here because I know a lot of times you'll get a private room I did get a private room it's very small an old looking but I was happy to have my own room. The TV has basic cable. I did appreciate having my own room and Dr Harris took good care of me plus there was a phlebotomist named Lynn that was kind in attentive. I really would recommend going somewhere else if you have a choice.
