San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Diego is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I love this Ralphs the smaller one in downtown but they do have good stuff. Although their milk selection is a little bit lacking didn't even have Fairview last time I was there but I also wish that they had like Good karma wax milk their non-dairy selection is also lacking. But for the most part they do have upper scale brands and the newer flavors of Gatorades and sodas and fun coffee creamer flavors and ice cream they have the good brands of ice cream sandwiches and the upper scale TV dinners the organic ones like Amy's but they have like multiple kinds of them. There's cereal selection is not that grate though and same with the Pop-Tarts. The only thing that's kind of a bummer is that sometimes they don't have shopping carts for everybody and you have to come from downstairs of the escalator to get into the store and so when you leave it's like you know if you have a lot of groceries it can be a burden.

The employees are amazing, the store is clean and well stocked, everyone is helpful, the manager is a positive upbeat and caring man who runs a great ship. The only bad thing is the employees NEVER answer the Ralph's phone. [The manager does not know this, clearly as he is all about customer service.] I called today to see when their deli is open, and so did my husband. The phone rang for 10 minutes and 43 seconds with no answer for me and I gave up. He hung up after 5 minutes of ringing with no answer. It is 917 a.m. I have been there this early and it is not busy. I don't know what the problem is. I have been there when employees are there and I hear the phone ringing extensively. I will have to drive all the way there just to see if the deli is open now. I will go to Sprouts if it isn't. Other than this (inconvenient annoyance, and lack of customer service in responding to a phone call for over ten minutes) the employees, prices, cleanliness, are super great, thus the 5 starts. [I should add that I too was treated rudely by a young man at the Sushi Bar like the review below last year. I try not to go to the Sushi Bar anymore.]

Honestly a decently sized Ralphβs for being in a major downtown area like San Diego. I was pretty surprised at the size and how well it seems to be managed given his clean and well-organized it was when I visited. Prices did seem a bit inflated but youβre in a Ralphβs downtown in San Diego so it was expected. Bathrooms require a code with a purchase from the store which was also to be expected. Employees there are definitely rude and sarcastic which brought down the experience of going there. They do have a patio but there are a good amount of homeless people around there so not sure if eating your lunch there is the best idea.

This Ralph's is in a nice area gaslamp. The store is really nice and up to date with all departments inside. It seems to be more expensive than the other local stores close by. I know security is high priority here. You have to scan your receipt to open the doors to leave the building. I hope there is never a fire in this building as it would be next to impossible to escape safely. Some isles are blocked off with like a locked door. Strange design I can only assume to prevent theft. I wonder what the fire marshall thinks about this building. Not sure how they can get away the interior design but it seems dangerous and also I feel kinda trapped inside this location.
