There aren’t too many campgrounds that are right on the beach, so the Silver Strand State Beach Campground is a rarity. I don’t mean close to the beach, it’s right there and the staff will loan you shovels to help clear the sand out of your campsite. Let me tell you why we’ll never come back. First, the entire campground is solid asphalt - there is zero landscaping: no palm trees, no hibiscus bushes, not a blade of grass. About as much charm as a Walmart parking lot. Plus, you’re parked just a few feet from your campground neighbors - usually about three feet apart. It would be easy to hear every offensive bodily sound coming from the trailer next to you except the traffic noise from Silver Strand Boulevard is so loud that it drowns out every . . . well, you know. At $65 a night ($85 for beach front) it’s not exactly a bargain but that does come with water and electricity although dumping your holding tanks costs $10. All of the 120 campsites are back-in. The worst thing, though, is that you can’t swim in the ocean. Sewage from Mexico that flows down through the Tijuana River Valley flows into the Pacific and a countercurrent takes it north, polluting one of the most beautiful b

Beautiful quiet beach but no swimming. Large campground but totally paved with no shade or privacy. White sand on one side, bay views on the other, but a highway running down the middle. In summary: not perfect but very cool anyways. The bike path is nice but recommend getting off it to explore the trails and beach, if your tires can do it.

I was happy to see this beautiful beach .. However the signs said do not go into water. POLLUTED!! ☹️😢😨😨😨😨 Even though few did go in I wouldn't.

Super fun location with the ocean on one side and the bay on the other. So much sand and great sunsets. I found sand dollars just south of the campground. The campground is just a concrete parking lot with electric and water hook ups. A sewer truck comes around for a fee to empty your tanks. Otherwise there's dump station on site for $10. I loved the bike trails just east of the campground that run from Coronado south to Imperial Beach. Hosts were friendly and check in a breeze. The only bummer was the polluted ocean and no water allowed water contact that happens often i read.
