For a place to eat or drink, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open now, how long is the wait at peak hours, and does the menu suit the group you are bringing. American restaurants typically run lunch and dinner services with a quieter stretch in between, coffee shops open early, and many kitchens close earlier on Sunday. Cards and tap-to-pay are accepted almost everywhere, a tip of 15-20% is customary for table service, and sales tax is added at the register.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 3β9 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach The Big Scoop at (757) 808-6810; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 288 reviews, which is a strong result for an ice cream in Williamsburg and suggests consistent service.
Williamsburg is in Virginia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Williamsburg is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Virginia's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Wife and I stopped there on a date night and shared the Sβmores Sundae (they have hand scooped, but their sundaes are made with soft serve). Place was clean, staff was great, and the ice cream was delicious.

Yesterday around 3:30 p.m., my family and I stopped by one of our favorite ice cream shops, The Big Scoop, and we were truly impressed by Courtney. From the moment we walked in, she greeted us with a warm smile and outstanding customer service. Although she was the only employee working, she handled everything with professionalism, efficiency, and grace. There were already three families enjoying their ice cream when we arrived, and while we were there, she served our family along with three additional familiesβall while scooping ice cream, operating the cash register, and keeping things running smoothly. I asked if she was always scheduled to work alone, and she mentioned that another employee was supposed to arrive at 3:00 p.m. By the time we left around 4:20 p.m., she was still managing the entire shop by herself without ever losing her positive attitude or composure. Courtney deserves recognition for her incredible work ethic, professionalism, and dedication. In a time when great customer service can be hard to find, she set an outstanding example. Thank you, Courtney, for making our visit such a wonderful experience. The Big Scoop is fortunate to have someone like you repre

The Big Scoop was great. If you serve Hersheys ice cream thatβs a huge plus. They also have soft serve and Italian ice. I would return again. The girls serving were great too.

An amazing local find! This ice cream parlor has everything by you could want; unique hard scoop flavors, multiple Italian ice options and even soft serve! Prices were reasonable and sizes generous. We got kid sizes (cone picture) and a small (cup picture) which was easily enough for me and my husband to share. And the staff were kind and quick. Next time Iβm in Williamsburg Iβll be coming back!

We were hunting for some ice cream to cool us from the inside out. Never been here before, but it was a very nice little surprise. Very good ice cream, and the service was friendly and helpful. There's a large parking lot, but you still might have to park a little ways away. The place is accessible to all, games for the kids.
