It’s a shame to see the scheduling assistant to be rude and unprofessional in every aspect. The other ucla offices where very welcoming compared to this office not sure what is going on in her life that she feels the need to take it out on others bless her heart.

I see doctor chalmers at ucla and have so many incredible things to say about her. She makes me feel incredibly seen as a patient and is always so thoughtful in her care. I’ve recommended her to all of my friends and family!!

I recently had an appointment, not related to my gender care I receive through Dr. Kao but I generally don’t mind if someone I don’t know or a client misgenders me — we’re not in an intimate or personal environment where I feel the need to prove anything. However, being misgendered by one of the nurses or staff checking me out after my appointment was disappointing, especially given that I’m also on the waitlist for gender-affirming procedures through UCLA. It’s frustrating that within the same UCLA system where I’m prescribed hormones and scheduled for gender-affirming surgeries, a staff member could still display such a lack of awareness. As a university-affiliated institution, I would expect UCLA staff to be better informed about gender care and respectful communication. The trans community already faces deep mistrust toward the medical system because of discrimination and inadequate knowledge in healthcare settings. I sincerely hope your office prioritizes training for front desk and medical staff to ensure that trans and nonbinary patients feel welcomed and respected in your care.

I had my doctor's appointment today with Dr. Yu, and I had the best experience ever at a doctor's office. Dr. Yu was not only very knowledgable, but also very kind and patient! She made sure throughout my entire appointment that I felt comfortable and answered all the questions I had without being condescending. The LVN Christine (I think that was her name, I might have spelled it wrong) was also one of the best nurses I have met. I had to get my blood drawn, and I normally have to ask the nurse for a butterfly needle. However, Christine came in already with the butterfly needle without me even having to ask! She told me she noticed my small veins when taking my blood pressure and took the extra step to provide such good care. I felt so taken care of today, and I have never experienced such a caring doctor's visit before. I am really glad I had my appointment here, and I am so so grateful that Dr. Yu and Christine took such good care of me :)

UCLA Health Downtown Los Angeles is located next to Macy’s in a multi story shopping complex. UCLA Health validates the parking ticket reducing the cost to about $3.00. The parking structure is located in the Macy’s complex there are entrances on Eighth Street and on Flower. There is a separate entrance into UCLA Health on Level Two. All visitors must be screened by security before entering the facility. The facility has a general clinic and several medical specialties. The facility is very large with plenty of seating in the waiting room. The facility looks brand new and is very clean. Appointments can be made by calling the facility. Each specialty has a separate check-in area.
