Medical services in California range from neighborhood family practices to major hospital systems. Ask whether the provider accepts your plan (Medicare, Medicaid or a private insurer), what the copay is and whether a referral is required. Pharmacies can advise on common ailments and many medicines are available over the counter, but a proper diagnosis from a doctor is the safer route for anything that lasts more than a few days.

San Jose is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Jose is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

We've loved coming here with our cats for over a dozen years. All the staff at WV are kind and patient and excellent listeners. There have been several times when they've been great about squeezing us in when our cats had various problems, and we've worked with every vet that works there - they are all excellent and so personable. We go here for regular checkups, cat dental cleaning, and a fair number of minor emergencies. There is always ample easy parking, the place is spotless, and I never feel like anyone's trying to sell me a bunch of products that we don't need.

We love this place. We have been coming for years for well-visits and have always had a great experience with Dr. Nesset and the front office staff and techs. Then a week ago we had an emergency and are now even more impressed and grateful for the care we receive. Our dog, Sunny, was having rectal bleeding that was worsening and since it was after hours we emailed the office asking for a visit in the next couple days. Dr. Nesset reached out and coordinated for us even though she was going out of the country and Dr. Brons squeezed us in as a drop off. Dr. Brons called and gave a thorough briefing after doing an exam and recommended various tests. Once she had the go ahead the tests were performed quickly and we got helpful information. They sent Sunny home with medication, special food for a couple days, and detailed written instructions. We are so grateful that Sunny is a patient here. (Sunny hasn’t had any issues since.)

The staff and veterinarians at this clinic are top notch. Very friendly, very easy to work with, patient, and exceptionally knowledgeable. The clinic came highly recommended to me a few years ago when I needed a second opinion for my senior dog. I was immediately impressed. I have since returned with a different dog who is extremely fearful at the vet, and the staff could not have been more kind or thorough with her exam. This gives me great peace of mind for future visits.

Definitely recommend!! Both my cats and dog went to this vet. We saw different doctors, and all of them were great. My pets had different illnesses, got vaccines, xray, all here, and the care was perfect. Doctors and techs are very attentive and answered all my many questions. my dog was neutered here, and while there was a slight complication that can happen sometimes, they comped his follow up care meds and made sure to check on him daily for a month. You can’t really ask for more - stuff happens and they made up for it by showing that they cared and taking care of his follow-up care. We moved away or we would still be going here. Thanks West Valley Pet Clinic!

As a new client with a new puppy, I was optimistic and excited about starting a new relationship with this veterinary group. I enjoyed our first meeting with Dr. Groundwater a few weeks ago. I appreciated her warmth, knowledge and flexibility. Unfortunately, this morning's follow-up visit for a 2nd round of a puppy shot was horribly toxic when Eva, the Administrative Manager, unexpectedly intruded into my scheduling conversation with the receptionist. The vet tech who took care of my puppy was kind and professional. The receptionist who took my payment and helped me with scheduling was also polite and professional. Eva, the Administrative Manager, was toxic and unprofessional. Publicly confronting the poor receptionist in front of me and then challenging my scheduling request when she knew nothing about my puppy's chart was surprising and unsettling. If she is this unkind to staff in front of a client, what is she like behind closed doors? If she is this unkind and impolite to a paying client, how can I possibly trust her and the clinic staff with my puppy's care behind closed doors. Zero stars for Eva. I hope she can receive some more customer service training. I am not returni
