The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles is the largest museum in the United States dedicated to movies history and technology and the art of filmmaking . Exhibitions like Jaws ( that just ended), Studio Ghibli Ponyo, Hollywoodland Jewish Founders - The Making of a Movie Capital - about the beginning and the creation of the studios, the Academy Awards History, and especially Marilyn Monroe : Hollywood Icon were great. In addition, the David Geffen Theater and Ted Mann Theater have themed screenings (like the Studio Ghibli matinnees), Fanny’s Restaurant and the cafe are perfect for a bite, and the Academy museum store has some special editions items related to the exhibitions. Adults $25 Seniors (62 and over) $19 Students (18 and over, with valid ID) $15 Children (17 and under free) Either you live in the city of Los Angeles or just visiting, don’t miss the Celebration of Cinema!

🎥🎬🦈🎞️🏆🌊👠🏝️ Amity Island Welcomes You!" I would like to thank the Academy for bringing cinephiles and movie buffs together to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Steven Spielberg's Jaws. As a huge Oscars fan, finally visiting the Academy was every bit as special as I had hoped, and experiencing the closing celebration of Jaws: The Exhibition was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Fifty years later, Jaws continues to inspire the same curiosity, suspense, and sense of wonder as the sea that made it legendary. Beyond Jaws, the Academy's collection is remarkable in its own right, with seeing Dorothy's Ruby Slippers in person standing out as another unforgettable highlight and a reminder of just how much cinematic history is preserved within these walls. Flying in from South Florida for this special occasion brought my Jaws 50th National Tour to the perfect conclusion. A heartfelt thank you to Academy staff members Drayton, Jerry, and Carlos for making the day so extraordinary through their knowledge, hospitality, and personal touring. As Chief Brody says in the film's closing moments, "I think the tide's with us." Fifty years later, I'd say the tide is still very much with Jaws. Here

Marilyn and Barbie exhibits were especially fun. Free tix made it even better. Bonus also that Robert Rodriguez was there doing a meet & greet and screening for the 30th anniversary of Dusk til Dawn. Always something cool happening there. I had visited back in June 2024 but most exhibits are new & different now so it still held my attention. Good balance of genres and themes in the various rooms/exhibitions. Costuming is a personal fave of mine so I wish they had more of that still. Previously there was a room with a lot more, but maybe that was in the area under renovation.

Really educational!! I've really enjoyed my visit! The expositions are varied and there are a lot of great details. Take time to listen to the films they show about sounding effect and casting, they were my favorite parts of the museum. There is also a long film about Hollywood history in general, I wish I've took time to watch it all, it was great! All the props are great too, I love the one about Beauty and the Beast! But it's changing over time so don't expect to see something in particular, just arrive with an open mind and you won't be disapointed! Would recommend for all cinema loyers!

Calling all film buffs, well honestly, anyone who loves movies...you need to check out this incredible museum! I’ve been twice now, and both visits felt completely different in the best way. They rotate exhibits and bring in new pieces, so it never feels like you’re seeing the same thing twice. There’s always something new to take in, whether it’s a full exhibit or a smaller piece you didn’t catch before. It spans about five floors and covers everything from classic to modern films. You can move through it quickly, but it’s waaaay better when you take your time. Theres a lot of history here. My last visit I happened to be there while the Jaws exhibit was running, and it was unreal. They do these focused exhibits around specific films or filmmakers, and it really adds another layer to the experience. There’s also a great overlook of Hollywood up top, plus food and a gift shop on the ground floor, so it’s easy to spend a full day here without getting bored. This is one of those places I’ll keep coming back to anytime I’m in the area.
