We recently hired Cala Builders to construct an 800 sq ft detached ADU, and I genuinely cannot find a single thing to complain about. They are the real deal , fully licensed, extremely professional, and delivered the entire project on time. We built an ADU in our backyard and I’ll be honest, I had no idea how complicated the process was going to be before we started. Permits, setbacks, utility hookups… it’s a lot. What I appreciated most about this company is they had done it so many times that nothing caught them off guard. They basically walked us through the whole thing and handled all the permit paperwork themselves, which was a huge relief. The unit itself came out really nice. It’s a 500 sq ft one bedroom and they did a great job making it feel open and functional despite the size. Good layout, quality finishes, nothing feels cheap. Our tenants moved in about two weeks after final inspection and immediately said how much they loved it. Construction took around 14 weeks which was pretty much exactly what they quoted us. They were on the property a lot and never once left a mess or caused any issues with our neighbors, which I was worried about going in. If you’re thinking about building an ADU, these are the people to call. They know what they’re doing and it shows.
