San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and San Diego follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

*Great Value for Money!* I recently stayed at this hostel and had a fantastic experience. The location is perfect, within walking distance to major attractions. The price is very competitive, and the amenities are top-notch. The lockers are secure, but be sure to bring your own lock as they don't provide one. The laundry facilities are a bonus. The kitchen is well-equipped, and the towels provided are soft and clean. However, one thing to note is that there's no elevator, which can be a challenge if you're carrying large luggage. But overall, the pros far outweigh the cons. I'd definitely recommend this hostel to fellow travelers looking for a budget-friendly option with great amenities. *Rating:* 4.5/5 stars *Pros:* Location, price, lockers, laundry, kitchen, towels *Cons:* No elevator (can be tricky with big luggage), bring your own lock for lockers Would I stay here again? Absolutely!

I have stayed at many hostels and I would not stay here again. The first thing was being hit with this weird sewer smell as soon as I walked in. The stink hung around the common areas the whole time I was there. Thankfully my room didnβt smell, but it was really off-putting to walk through the hallways or use the common areas. The showers were disgusting: The mats were super old and discolored with mold and bottom of the water control handle was coated with soap scum or calcium scaling, as if the cleaning crew only wipes everything down rather than actually cleaning. There are signs everywhere asking people to clean up after themselves but it seems like the same doesnβt apply to management. The bunk beds are super noisy and old; anytime anyone makes the slightest move they creak loudly and move the other sleeper. Top bunks are super hard to climb into and do not have the privacy screens that are on the bottom bunks. I didnβt realize you needed to bring your own lock for the lockers; might be a nice thing to mention to travelers before they get there? I wasnβt even told at check-in so I had to go back down and buy one from reception. No staff members were ever friendly to me (like e

I have travelled for few days to San Diego by myself and I did explore this hostel during my stay. They are at center of historic Gaslamp place surrounded by great restaurants and bars. Very affordable price, nice and clean. On the top of all these, people who are running this place are super friendly and awesome. They helped me even I checked in at midnight :). So I would definitely recommend this place if you travel to San Diego and want to have some great experiences about hostels at Gaslamp areas. Thank you so much to the front office team for your support, kindness and hospitality.

I loved my stay at Gaslamp Hostel. Every single team member was a huge help for me as I had just had my phone stolen. They were kind, friendly and just good people. Also they ran things really well. The facility was solid from the bedrooms to games rooms and kitchen, I really enjoyed hanging around there for a few days. So grateful to them and I would not hesitate to spend some time under their roof if you're in the area.
