Reviews that mention noise, air conditioning, Wi-Fi and cleanliness are usually the most useful. Prices swing sharply around holidays, spring break, conventions and local events, so book early for those dates.

San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Diego is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

We stayed here during the 2026 Comic Con. We wanted to be close to the convention center but didn't want to pay a fortune. We had never stayed at a Hostel before but I looked at the pics and reviews online and decided to give it a try. I think they try to make it as inviting as they can. The rooms are run down but clean. We were on the 3rd floor and our room had 4 bunk beds and its own bathroom. There were only 2 of us but we wanted a bathroom in our room and this was the only option to make that happen. Otherwise, you share a bathroom with others. There was a floor model A/C unit that was on but the room was so hot. We closed the curtains and turned the unit on as high as it would go which eventually made it less hot but the room never really cooled down. Since the Hostel is on Market Street it was really noisy until about 1am each night. They really make the Hostel inviting by having a few gathering spaces with couches, chairs and tables to sit, relax and have a quiet conversation or read a book. The Hostel is painted in bright lively colors and there's art work on the walls. I love the shared kitchen and dining space and was impressed with how modern it was. The staff was gr

Sorry for the late review! I stayed here in August 2025, when I visited San Diego from Japan for the first time in 28 years. From the moment I booked through Agoda, I was impressed by how quickly, kindly, and thoughtfully the staff responded to all of my questions. When I finally arrived, the hostel was every bit as wonderful as I had imagined from our emails. The interior was stylish, peaceful, and very clean. The shared kitchen was spacious and well equipped, and the nighttime view of the street from the windows was beautiful. During our stay, all of the other guests were friendly and respectful. I never felt uncomfortable or unsafe. On the night we checked in, a group of our friends couldn't find the accommodation they had originally booked, so they needed a place to stay for one night at the last minute. The woman with the short haircut at the front desk was incredibly patient and kind as she listened to my friend's limited English and helped them through the situation. We are still grateful to her. The location is excellentβclose to the Gaslamp Quarter and the Balboa Theatre. The security is good, the price is very reasonable, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming.

First hostel I visited during my trip. I stayed in a shared bunk bed room. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Beds were comfortable as well. Big lockers, and coffee table and chair inside the room. Everything was clean. Bathrooms were also very clean. You can tell staff does a great work cleaning every day. Only issue with the building (and probably the area) is that it has a urine smell that seems to never go away. The rooms have A/C and were very fresh the whole time. It also makes some white noise that helped me sleep, as the building is located on Market Ave, and there is a lot of noise around. I appreciate that. I enjoyed the common areas, perhaps my favorites from the three hostels I visited during my trip. I enjoyed watching the World Cup matches with the folks staying there, and the atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and professional, and take security very seriously. I recommend this place if youβre traveling solo, or with friends or company.
