Classic Japanese park design. Peaceful, clean, well-maintained. Lots of shaded trees, benches. Nice walking trails with varying elevation. Good spot for outdoor wedding photos. Ponds are accumulating quite a bit of algea.

Japanese Friendship Garden would definitely be a beautiful place to visit. Unfortunately, many of the ponds were empty, and parts of the garden felt a little unkempt during my visit. The koi fish were definitely the highlight for me and were fun to watch! I liked that it was a quiet and calming walk around the garden. With a little more maintenance, this garden would definitely be beautiful!

Had such a great time here it is sooo beautiful and parking was only $6. Clean and across the parking lot there is an old little town you can also go to. Definitely recommend for a nature walk or even a spot to take pics at.

Large friendship garden but mostly in disrepair. Many featured areas were blocked off with caution tape and the tea house had a squatter laying about. I don’t feel comfortable going to the bathroom that was located there or continuing to walk around.

We visited the beautiful Japanese Friendship Garden in San Jose on Mother’s Day, and it was such a peaceful little escape from busy city life. I loved walking through the serene pathways, bridges, and lush greenery while enjoying the sight of the koi ponds and watching the fish swim around. It’s such a lovely spot to slow down, relax, take photos, or simply enjoy nature for a while. Some areas have been recently restored, and the garden has a quiet charm that makes it worth visiting. You can truly feel the peaceful atmosphere inspired by traditional Japanese gardens. Perfect for a peaceful stroll, reflection time, or a simple afternoon with family and friends. It’s free to enter the park, just pay for parking. Definitely one of San Jose’s hidden gems. 🌿🌸
