I visited Musée Mécanique near Pier 43 and remembered how unique and fun this spot is. Visiting on a weekday afternoon made the experience much better since it was easy to walk around and try different games without waiting. You can see all kinds of vintage mechanical games, fortune tellers, and music boxes from different eras. The space was clean, spacious, and well kept. Change machines were readily available throughout the building, and the staff were friendly and attentive when a machine needed assistance. It is a very cool piece of history and a great place to sit or wander around for an hour. Overall, I think it is an excellent location and well worth stopping by.

One of the absolute highlights of our San Francisco trip was visiting Musée Mécanique. If you’ve never been, you’re missing one of the city’s true hidden gems. Walking through the museum is like stepping back in time. It’s filled with beautifully restored antique, coin-operated arcade games, fortune tellers, mechanical displays, and vintage amusements—many of them still fully functional after decades, and in some cases, more than a century. What made our visit even more special was meeting the son of the owner. He was incredibly welcoming and generous with his time, taking us behind the scenes to show us how several of these incredible machines work. Seeing the inner mechanics and hearing the stories behind these historic pieces gave us an even greater appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into creating them. I’ve visited quite a few antique arcades over the years, but this collection is easily one of the finest I’ve ever seen. It’s not just an arcade—it’s a living museum where history comes alive one coin at a time. Whether you’re a history buff, an arcade enthusiast, or just looking for something unique to do in San Francisco, I can’t recommend Musée Mécanique enough.

An absolute delight! It's free to gawk but you'll want to bring at least a five to try out done of the old and not so old machines! My favorites are the multiple and varried fortune teller machines, but there's a little bit of everything here! The staff (possibly owner!) was super nice & informative too! Highly recommended!!

A free to walk in museum, with a vast selection of old timely machines that run on quarters. From games, to fortune telling and much more. A unique experience to walk around and spend time playing various different things. Felt like an arcade from all generations. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.

One of the oldest arcades in the world with machines dating back to almost 100 years ago. It was really fun to try out the games and experience a part of history. They had a lot of arcade games and musical machines to try out and I was surprised to see all of them in really good working conditions. If you’re into unique experiences, this is definitely a cool place to stop by! Be sure to carry quarters (and pennies if you want a penny memorabilia) or at least cash ad they have cash to quarter machines.
