San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and San Diego follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

It's hard to find a sit down restaurant that's open 24 hours and continues to serve that 1950's diner aesthetic. Doesn't give off that corporate minimalist design we see nowadays in most restaurants. They have a plethora of menu items to choose from. I ended up getting the Bacon & Avocado Sandwich with an Oreo and Vanilla milkshake. When I came back the very next day, I tried their cheeseburger. All foods were well presented and the plate was filled to the brim, so the price is well worth it. They even have vegetarian options too. And milkshakes are also customizable. Staff is very attentive and has great personality. I really enjoyed my time here and feel the sense of community of San Diego. Definitely a great spot if you're looking for a classic sit-down dinning experience!

I stopped by Rudford's Restaurant after hearing it’s one of those old-school 24-hour diner spots in San Diego. The place has that classic, slightly worn-in diner feelβ€”booths, counter seating, and a no-frills setup. It wasn’t busy when I went, so service was quick enough, and the staff were straightforward and polite, nothing overly chatty but not rude either. I ordered a basic breakfast plate. The portions were decent, and the food was fineβ€”nothing memorable, but it did the job. The coffee was average diner coffee: drinkable, but not something I’d go out of my way for. What stood out more was the atmosphere. It feels like a place that’s been around for a long time and has probably seen all kinds of people come through at different hours of the day and night. It’s more about convenience and familiarity than anything fancy. Overall, I’d say it’s an okay spot if you’re nearby or need a simple meal at odd hours. Not really a destination place for me, but not bad either.

I would love to rate higher as a San Diego local but my review is resting on the food. I ordered multiple things including the French dip, chicken quesadilla, clam chowder, and Philly fries. The clam chowder flavor was fine, pretty average but I did note there was more than just clam for the seafood which would have been nice to know. In addition there was a large grit to the chowder, almost as if there was sand in it. Following that I tried the Philly fries which were good but I avoided the meat as it was a bit tough. Then I got the French dip which I was most excited about. There was no cheese even though I asked at the beginning if there was. The meat was tough and very thick with lots of fat. Then the aus ju tasted sour and burnt. I had my partner taste it as well and he agreed it was inedible. So I put it to the side and tried the quesadilla which to be fair was good. But, as I was eating I noticed some stray things like a pea and burnt pieces of, well I don’t know what. Which makes me question the cleanliness of the grill/ cross contamination. Overall I was really disappointed because the server was nice, although I do think if you see patrons leaving plates full of food you

Let me start off with saying the customer service was really great. I went in around midnight and sat at the bar. The gentleman who waited on me was very courteous. Sadly, the food did not live up to the service. I grew up here in San Diego and have wanted to try this diner for years and had not yet. The food was not good. The corned beef hash was burnt and inedible. The roast beef and au jus had a strange taste that I can only describe as what mop water smells like. I also ordered the clam chowder and custard to go. Both of which were not good. The only thing I liked and ate all of was the chili beans. Which tasted as if from a can but it was still better than the rest. Perhaps other breakfast food here may be better but what I ordered was definitely not great. I'm left very disappointed as I love diners and wanted it to be good.
