About San Diego California Temple
Please visit the temple website for open hours and appointments. Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are considered houses of God, a place of holiness and peace separate from the preoccupations of the world. They provide a place where Church members make formal promises and commitments to God. They are also the place where the highest sacraments of the faith occur β the marriage of couples and the "sealing" of families for eternity. Temples serve as the only place where ceremonies such as baptism and eternal marriage can be performed in behalf of those who have died. Temples point Latter-day Saints to Jesus Christ and their eventual life with Him.

07/10/26 I usually see this iconic temple from afar while driving or as a passenger on Interstate 5. Today, I had the pleasure of touring the interior. It was magnificently. I especially enjoyed the serenity of the Celestial Room. While sitting in the plush seating, I scanned the sparkling light fixtures hanging from the 120-foot ceiling. I decided to silently pay respect to my late mom and dad. Before heading back on the shuttle, I walked the grounds and enjoyed the castle-like structure and vegetation. My day was well spent. Thank you to all the staff who made this event run smoothly!

This is the second time the Temple has been open to the public in about 30ish years. I have always driven past it, thinking it was a fancy castle. I have zero knowledge of the faith, but praise the staff for being very helpful and friendly. The inside wasn't what I had imagined and was rather spotless in all the rooms and stairs. Quite impressive.

A few days ago, we had the opportunity to visit this temple after it recently opened to the public. I truly enjoyed seeing it from the inside. Its design is beautiful, and from the outside it is simply breathtaking. Our guide, Susana, was exceptional. She answered all of our questions with such kindness and warmth, making the visit even more meaningful. Being there brings a deep sense of peace and tranquility. Everyone who was serving at the temple greeted us with genuine smiles, and it was easy to see that they truly enjoyed what they were doing. Their joy, kindness, and peaceful spirit made the experience even more memorable. It was a very special visit that I will always remember with great appreciation.

We visited when the temple was open to the public after the recent renovation. Beautiful temple, the outside is pristine. I honestly did not know what to expect on the inside. I was unaware of the fundamental differences between the Christian/Catholic Church and a Mormon temple. I guess I was expecting the inside to be more like the churches I visited in Europe but because I wasn't educated in the Mormon faith, I felt the inside to be sterile, unadorned, and void of the typical aspects of the church. Inside, for me, was a bit underwhelming, however, it is pristine inside. The members were exceptionally warm and greeted us wonderfully. They thanked us repeatedly for visiting. We felt very welcomed. Everything was very well organized. Thank you for opening your doors to us. We saw when the temple was being built in the late 80's and early 90's but never made it inside...until now

This was a breathtaking building rich with symbolism. We took a tour during the open house, and it was incredible. Beautiful massive stairways and such an incredible quiet spirit was present. We will definitely come back to this temple. More than the super pretty outside, the spirit felt inside is immaculate.

I am not a member of the Church, I was invited to visit the Temple because it was renovated and ready to open doors again in June 2026. It was an overwhelming architechtonical experience. The Church is breathtaking. Needless to say, if I had come alone, I would have definitely gotten lost. They paid attention to every last detail in the construction finishes. The carpets, the wall hangings, everything was done with the highest quality. The maiden who served as usher was this gorgeus and she patiently answered my questions on the Cult. Thanks LDS for allowing us visit the Church.

If youβre in San Diego driving along Interstate 5 by La Jolla, you have seen this beautiful white looking castle. Itβs the San Diego Temple of Latter-day Saints. Itβs been closed to the public for the last 33 years! We attended the open house on 6/19/2026. Itβs going on until 11 July. Tickets are sold out. If you didnβt get to reserve a ticket, no need to worry because they donβt check or scan. Everyone gets a chance to go in. Meaning, if you have a ticket, no need to arrive at your assign day or time. I found out the hard way because I was running late and stressed out. Wasnβt until I got there that I figured everything out because no one tells you anything among the chaos. Do this: Park off site to be shuttled in. The lot on site is tiny. Nice tour buses with A/C, comfy seats, the buses had Finding Nemo playing on the tv. The minute you arrive on site and get off the bus, you can either detour off to take photos of the exterior. Or follow the white chain in single file line to the big white tent. The tent is where they seat you to be in the shade. As the rows exit the tent towards the temple, you get seated to wait your turn. Itβs about 30 minutes wait of just sitting there

Love it! My favorite temple. What a special place. Stop by before the open house ends and enjoy the beauty and the wonderful feeling you feel there. Talk to the missionaries and ask them questions. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go again & bring our friends
