I went to this branch in downtown LA to submit the documents related to my deceased friend so that the bank can deposit the balance in his account to the estate account created so that his family can receive the money. There has been ZERO action from this branch. I am appalled at the callousness shown to a customer that passed away leaving some balance in his account. I went to the Chase Bank, DCU credit union and the Wells Fargo bank, making the same request. Each of these banks took care of the transfer within a couple of weeks after asking for the death certificate and the estate account details. Why are Indian banks, esp the government owned ones, so poor in customer service? What if they face an untimely death of a loved one that left behind some balance? Would they show the same level of negligence? I waited for over 2 months and got no response. I left my contact information, including a copy of my drvier's license along with my phone number. SBI personnel should be ashamed. I am not naming the manager I met that day but that will come next if I do not get any response. It is not like they have a stack of requests from deceased SBI customers in the US.

If there were an option to give zero or negative stars, I would. For over two weeks, I have been trying to reach the LA branch without success. I called multiple times, left several voicemails for the designated banker, and sent numerous emails—copying the entire branch staff. Since November 30, 2025, not a single person has responded. I even sent a secured message requesting to discuss my account, but everything disappears into a black hole. There is no responsibility, no accountability, and no courtesy from anyone at this branch. It is shocking to experience such poor customer service from a major bank like SBI California. Opening a CD here was a mistake.

Visalakshi Anande, heard me, so carefully, was able to send me the form via email, explained to me step by step, how to fill the form in order to convert my SBI Pension Savings Account in India into an NRO account. That form will act as KYC, then next I can go to India and liquidate my de-mat SBI Securities on to my NRO Savings. In 2022 I went to get my daughter married, spent two weeks in Mumbai, thinking I would get help. I went to SBI HQ where i worked for 21 years. I went to SBI Cap section, no one heard my story, they made me go from Nariman Point to Lower Parel so many times. I went with all original certificates as my husband passed away on February 10, 2019. The rented flat where we lived got sealed by the landlord, so I did not have an address to give them i gave them my sister's address and cell number. But that does not work in KYC. By the time I left India and reached USA. SBI Caps told me via email, nothing was done, because KYC is missing and they mailed all the death certificates to my sister. Now with Ms. Anande's guidance, when I go to India, in January 2026, SBI Sec. will be able to sell the de-mat shares and put in my NRO Savings and I can also put a Nomi

Great Experience! We are very impressed with the efficiency and courteousness of the SBI Staff including Mr. Anil Mattoo, Visalakshi Anande and Neneth Reoma. It is owing to their positive attitude that we are regular clients now!!!

I have been using SBI about 6 years now, but never had any issues and works smoothly(both Mobile App and Website). Employees are very friendly and helpful. A huge thanks to "Harmeet Kaur" and she's so friendly and willing to help whenever there is a need. She communicates and recommend if any best offers which will be helpful for us. Overall, Great Bank and Service. Keep up guys and apricate your efforts to help customers.
