A Thai brunch restaurant that serves food all day. We had a fantastic dining experience here, the food and drinks were exceptionally outstanding. For me this is surely one of the best Thai restaurants in the Bay Area. Here's what we ordered: Vela omelette with crab and creamy tom yum sauce, topped with tobiko: This is one of their signature dishes and was recommended by our server. I was amazed by how delicious it was. The dish was filled with large chunks of crab, runny eggs and a rich, savory tom yum sauce. When mixed with white rice, every bite was just incredibly satisfying. Khao Soi with beef short rib: Another excellent recommendation from the staff. The beef short rib was so tender, fell right off the bone. Each bite just melted in my mouth. Dish came with egg noodles prepared in two ways, one soaked up in the rich, flavorful coconut broth, while the other was crispy and added a good crunch. Love this combination! Cocktails: We ordered Umeshu Soda and Nice or Neat. Both were soooooo aesthetic and tasted great. Overall, we had an amazing dining experience here! I enjoyed it so much that I’ve already recommended this restaurant to all of my friends. Highly recommended!

VeLa () in Thai translates to "time". It is a popular, elegant name frequently used by modern cafes, restaurants, and lifestyle brands to signify a relaxing space to "take your time" or "savor the moment" One can definitely savor the moment here... 4.5 ***** rounded up to 5 ***** for me. VeLa Brunch & Thai Restaurant is located in downtown SJ; corner off 8th and William. Not the best location IMHO. Have fun hunting for parking; there is no dedicated parking lot, street parking it is. We got lucky and found parking right across the restaurant, in the shade too! PARKING MAGNET!! Yes I is! Not the biggest of venues, but they do have a decent amount of outdoor seating. We sat outside since the weather was lovely. Da wahine is obsessed with the Boat Noodle soup. So naturally Vella popped up on her list. However, she didn't get Boat Noodle this time! That's only because she wanted some eggs for brunch / lunch, and the Omelette caught her eye. #VelaEats: Poached Eggs Benedict: ~ Khao Soi Crispy Chicken - 4.5 Brilliant! Nice casual brunch spot in San Jose with good value for the price. VELA Thai Brunch & Bar We ordered the crab omelette, Thai boat noodles with beef ribs, papaya salad, and a build-your-own eggs plate. The crab omelette is rich with a slightly soft center, and the boat noodles are the highlight—beef ribs are tender and the broth is flavorful. Papaya salad is fresh and refreshing, and the eggs plate is simple and light. Drinks are also worth trying, especially the purple sweet potato matcha latte and mango coconut water—lightly sweet and not overwhelming. Easy parking and relaxed vibe. Good for a casual brunch or low-key date without the wait.

VeLa Thai has a clean and sophisticated, yet casual atmosphere, that makes a great dining experience. The service to order was a little slow but once ordered, the food comes is very fast. The dishes are presented oh so beautifully and are decent portion sizes. Menu highlights for our first time: Duck Curry: The duck was very tender and flavorful. The curry creamy. But it could have a slightly stronger flavor. Crab Fried Rice: While extremely tasty, I kind of prefer if they would have mixed the crab in with the fried rice as opposed to placing it on top, kind of like a garnish. Mango Sticky Rice: The dessert was a nice finish, though the mango itself was a little tart. Pro Tip: Parking can be difficult since you have to rely on street spots. It isn't too bad if you arrive early, but keep that in mind for peak dining hours. It’s on the pricey side so not an every week visit for me.

On a cold Saturday morning, my partner and I felt a brunch mood. So, we headed over to VeLa Brunch. This restaurant was previously a different Thai restaurant, and just started this emphasis on brunch. The space is decently spacious and we didn’t have a hard time at all getting a table. We ended up ordering the Khao Soi Benedict as well as the VeLa Omelet. First off, the Khao Soi Crispy Chicken Benedict was amazing. The sauce was rich, the egg was cooked well, and the chicken was crispy. We opted for the fries on this, which were decent, but not amazing. Our next dish was the VeLa Omelet, usually with either Lump Crab meat or Duck Breast. There is a secret option though to do both items for an additional $12. We tried both (before knowing the price), and it was good, but I would probably just stick with one option. The sauce on this dish was outstanding though. The flavors were unapologetic and a total punch in the face which was so nice. The egg was also nice and fluffy and brought everything together. We also tried the Matcha Thai Tea which came highly recommended by the server and it was so great. Our server, the younger guy, was super nice and friendly, but the other male serve
