The team was amazing, compassionate, and very helpful both visits despite the diagnosis of my dog having ARVC and new medication. They monitored and took such great care of Pepper. Dr. Parkins saw us both times, and was very helpful navigating us through both incidents. He patiently answered all of our questions and thankful to him for being invested in Pepper’s well being, very thoughtful and respectful. I can’t recommend their team enough and trust them with my dog’s care.

We brought our sick dog here on a referral and were immediately taken care of. Our CT scan came back faster than expected and they got our dog in for specialized treatment quickly. All the doctors were kind and responsive and everyone was on the same page. Further, our little beast was treated with great compassion at all times and was clearly comfortable for his short stay. We also got frequent text updates at all hours about his conditions If you have some issue with your pet that your normal vet can’t fix, bring them here and you’ll be in good hands.

Update: Yes, it's true that there were conversations regarding the dangers of immunosuppressants and the anti-fungal treatment on the last TWO DAYS of my dogs life when she was switched to the correct medicine, MONTHS after my dog tested positive for valley fever, when she SHOULD have been placed on the anti-fungal. A quick google search shows the dangers of my dogs treatment: "Giving a dog with Valley Fever an immunosuppressant (such as prednisone or cyclosporine) without an antifungal puts them at severe risk of the fungal infection rapidly spreading, worsening, or becoming fatal" We are still hoping for some accountability in the suffering and death of our beloved family member. Brought our 3 year old maltipoo to see vet neurologist Dr. Schneider after she had two seizures and agreed to infectious disease testing. Somehow Dr. Schneider missed that one of the tests that he himself ordered was positive for Valley Fever and instead of putting her on an anti-fungal, he put her on an immunosuppressant which allowed the fungus to quickly spread throughout her body and lungs. Our dog's primary vet reached out to Dr. Schneider several times during the last few weeks of our dog's lif

I can’t say enough good things about Veterinary Specialty in Sorrento Valley. They have been absolutely incredible with my dogs, Bella, Eliza, and Kobe.I truly wouldn’t trust anyone else with their care. From the moment you walk in, everything feels organized, clean, and calm. The staff is not only highly professional and knowledgeable, but also genuinely caring—you can tell they love what they do and treat every pet like their own. They consistently keep me informed, explain everything clearly, and make sure I feel confident about every decision. Appointments run smoothly, and I’ve never had to wait long, which makes such a difference, especially when you’re worried about your pet. The level of communication, attention to detail, and overall compassion is just outstanding. If you’re looking for a veterinary team you can fully trust, this is it. Truly an amazing place—five stars all the way.

Update: It has been 2 months and the only correspondence or follow up I’ve received is a link to a survey. Very disappointing. No real answers as to what was going on with my dog and a major lack of empathy towards a confused and concerned owner. It’s what you’d expect from an emergency vet. Long waits, high prices… when I went, it seemed kind of busy, not 5 hour wait busy. When my dog was seen, it happened suddenly because she started dripping blood from a lump on her neck. We were separated and then I just agreed to the estimate because we wanted her to be taken care of properly. Overall I’m disappointed. The cost was a couple thousand dollars and we still don’t have a real answer to what is going on with her. Diagnoses; abscess… but it wasn’t drained. We went home with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory and things have been ok. At pick up the staff said our dog was quite excited in the back but she was supposed to be sedated and receiving care so I don’t know what we really paid for. Vet was going to give us the same medication for boatloads less and run blood work, which VSH did, and found nothing unusual. No follow up or anything included. I feel dumb for taking my dog to VSH
