We are very pleased with our decision to live at the Vi ay La Jolla. The facilities are first rate and impeccably maintained. We like the opportunity to dine at multiple locations in the building, and the varied menus. Food is delicious and well served. The local is central and close to medical facilities, shopping and dining. The care facilities are impressive and well staffed. The residents are a joy; friendly and courteous. Perhaps the best thing about the Vi is the staff. Everyone we’ve dealt with is well trained, enthusiastic and seem genuinely pleased to be here. It is truly an exceptional place to live.

Vi at La Jolla Village has been my home for over 10 years and it continues to be a place I genuinely enjoy returning to each day. My apartment is bright and cheerful, with a balcony spacious enough to accommodate many plants and greenery. One of Vi’s many strengths is the Lifestyles Department which offers an impressive range of programs and activities. The variety is wide ranging and creative: exercise and physical fitness, creative arts, music and other entertainment, outings, concerts, lectures, discussions, and many are difficult to place in a specific category. The Lifestyles Department seeks to incorporate resident ideas, talents and expertise in the programming for all. A key reason I selected V is that I wanted a CCRC with good health care and rehabilitation programs. Although relatively healthy initially, many of us develop new health difficulties which require support and attention. It’s reassuring to know that care is available on-site and there’s no need to move from the community. Community is truly the right word for Vi. Although we are not yet living at the VI La Jolla Village, our review is for the months-long process to become a resident. Our case is a bit more complicated since we are transitioning from 56 years in Hawaii to La Jolla. We chose the VI because we were looking for a five-star healthy lifestyle experience for our “last rodeo.” We looked for a community with excellent weather, that was close to town, to the beach and to most of our family. Everyone on the staff has been incredibly helpful and welcoming. We could not ask for better! Kelly Parkins-Aguirre heading up the Sales Department, Tracy Anderson, the Renovation Manager guiding us through a complete renovation of our apartment, and Brenda Peterson, shepherding us through the move-in process, and other staff have welcomed us completely as though family. We’ve been able to visit the VI multiple times over the past months and have met a number of vibrant and enthusiastic new friends. We were also very impressed by the multitude of lifestyle and cultural activities, and especially the first-in-the-country Brain Vitality Studio that offers top notch training promoting brain health. My husband and I moved to the Vi a year and a half ago, and it has exceeded our expectations. The best part about living here is the people who are so friendly, and supportive of new residents. We wanted to be able to take advantage of everything Vi has to offer...daily exercise classes, art classes, lectures, bus trips every week to walk around interesting places, holiday parties etc. Staff is excellent. Everyone smiles, and quickly gets to know your name, especially in the dining room where they know I like a lot of ice in my water. Everyone on staff works so hard to make sure we are happy. It is a wonderful place to live

My wife and I spent considerable time several years ago evaluating retirement communities in San Diego — more than twenty in all — looking for the right place for my godmother. Vi at La Jolla Village stood out above every other option we considered, and we placed her there with complete confidence. She lived there for ten years. We visited almost monthly throughout that time, and our confidence never wavered. The staff was consistently professional and genuinely caring — not just during the good years, but through every stage as her needs increased, including the critical care she required at the end of her life. Vi handled it all with skill and compassion. I cannot recommend this community highly enough to anyone facing this decision for themselves or a loved one.
