I’m writing this review kind of late but I thought I’d share my experience since a friend of mine is also looking into driving schools. I booked a dmv drive test on July 10th 2025. The car I was picked up in was the most run down car I have ever been in. The cars dashboard was being held together by some duct tape. The steering wheel made me feel extremely unsafe. Also an hour of practice was promised to me beforehand. The woman took about 15 minutes at the nearby gas station pumping air into the tires. Which is something that should have been done before my appointment. We did not practice at all. I only drove to the DMV which was about a 10 minute drive from where I lived. I didn’t pass my test (not blaming the “instructor” she was a nice lady) but it was definitely not like the other driving school I went to previously. The whole experience before getting to the DMV made me feel extremely uneasy. It seems like everyone else on here had a positive experience but that was not mine. (Edit: The instructor was an older black woman with an accent.)

Thanks to his guidance, support, and encouragement, I passed my driving test and I honestly couldn’t have done it without him. If you’re looking for an instructor who is professional, relaxed, and truly invested in your success, Gilberto is not only the First Choice, but the best choice!

1st Choice Driving School really helped my son build the skills that he needs to drive these mean streets of LA. My son had nothing but the best to say about his driving instructor, Donovan! I can't thank Donovan enough as my son got his license the first time he took his test!!!

This is a great driving school. I mostly got one teacher, “Raul”, and he was amazing. He taught me well, instructed clearly, helped if needed, and when over everything whenever a problem occurred. This has helped me a lot with my daily driving. I’m more alert and aware of my surroundings at all times. If you need to learn good driving habits this is your school. Good communication, on time, well mannered, polite, and a professional environment. This school has it all, without compromising your comfort. 👍

I had Raul as a driver and I can't imagine a better experience! He was very helpful and gave real life advice along with dmv advice that let me pass first try. If you can would definitely ask for him! Beyond the driving he was also a very chill guy and I enjoyed talking to him throughout practice which definitely helped with the nerves.
