For a place to eat or drink, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open now, how long is the wait at peak hours, and does the menu suit the group you are bringing. American restaurants typically run lunch and dinner services with a quieter stretch in between, coffee shops open early, and many kitchens close earlier on Sunday. Cards and tap-to-pay are accepted almost everywhere, a tip of 15-20% is customary for table service, and sales tax is added at the register.

We had such a great dinner here! We're vegetarians, and every dish we ordered was full of flavor. The spices were just rightβ€”not too much, not too little. You can really tell the food is made with care. The Mango Lassi was so refreshing, and the Gulab Jamun Cheesecake was honestly the highlight of the meal. If you're visiting, don't skip it! The atmosphere was lovely, the service was friendly, and we'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend this place, especially if you're looking for amazing vegetarian food.

A thoughtfully curated menu. I went with a friend and we thoroughly enjoyed the service and ambiance. Their drink menu is very clever as well. I’d say the food was nice, but nothing out of this world. I’d come back for the ambiance more than anything. Parking is tricky so we parked in a lot and walked a block to the restaurant. The area is quite safe as well. I’ll definitely recommend coming here for any special occasions!

BAAR BAAR in Downtown Los Angeles is one of the few places where the full experience holds upβ€”from the food to the service to the overall setting. It’s close to L.A. Live and the Los Angeles Convention Center, and within 25 minute- walking distance of Walt Disney Concert Hall. The space is beautifully done, with a long bar, warm lighting, and a layout that works for both small tables and groups. Service was excellent throughoutβ€”attentive, knowledgeable, and easy to connect with. The cocktail menu is thoughtful and fun, with drinks named after Hindi films. We tried β€œHera Pheri,” β€œAnarkali,” and β€œMera Naam Joker,” and all were well made, with the server helping guide choices based on what we liked. The vegetarian options are strong, which was not always the case when it first opened here. The cauliflower starter was well done (felt less fried) and the sweet potato with chutneys and fried kale was the most interesting dish we had. The avocado dish was fine but not memorable. For mains, the curry platter with multiple options worked well. The spinach and corn and the potato curry were both solid, and the dal makhani stood out. We added saffron rice and breads, which rounded out the

The service between the bartender/mixologist and our server was just top notch. Paired with the ambience and decor, it truly created a setting for an enjoyable dinner. I usually love wine with dinner but these days, especially the restaurants on downtown LA, have upped their cocktail game. With complex and refreshing flavors and an Indian kick, the cocktails were amazing. We did enjoy the food. The lambchop was decent and the short ribs and sea bass and butter chicken were delicious. I would skip the duck tacos. Not bad but not memorable and with the birria sauce, didn't really help with duck flavoring. I know they try to bring California twist to the menu but I would have done cheese birria taco with mashed peas or potato even. Shredding duck meat is just a waste. We also skipped a lot of vegetable and shared plates and went straight for large plates meat/seafood dishes and sides family style. Skip the dessert. Intriguing and creative idea but disappointing and underwelhming in execution. We definitely all had slight food coma at the end of the night, which is consistent with good Indian food.

Absolutely loved the food and service! The vegan preparations were fabulous. We had kale pakoda sweet potato, Cauliflower 65, squash curry and aloo matar. The DDLJ drink was my favorite. The place is clean, beautifully designed, fantastic music curation- definitely going back regularly! Thank you Chef Paramjeet for making our first visit so special!
