Such a beautiful park! The gardens, the museums, the wonderful architecture! In particular, we liked the Botanical Building, thr Inez Rose garden and the Cactus garden best! Balboa Park also has an archery range, Frisbee golf, and tennis courts. Balboa Park is the best part of San Diego!

Balboa Park was one of our favorite stops in San Diego! The architecture is absolutely stunning, and we loved walking through the beautiful gardens and historic buildings. There was so much to see and explore, and our toddler had an amazing time running around and taking it all in. It’s a perfect place for families and anyone who appreciates beautiful scenery and architecture.

🌴 Balboa Park San Diego. Must Visit Landmarks, Gardens & Museums (Plan Ahead!) When we visited San Diego, Balboa Park was a must-stop and it absolutely delivered. We came mainly to see the iconic California Tower, but quickly realized this place is HUGE. Even a full day is not enough to cover everything the park has to offer. We arrived around midday and parked in one of the on-site parking lots (about $10). From there, we walked through the open green lawns into the heart of the park. Entry to Balboa Park itself is free, but most museums require tickets (around $16 per person, from what I remember). The park is incredibly well maintained, clean, and easy to navigate, with plenty of signage, maps, restrooms and food options including cafes, restaurants, and snack stands. It’s very visitor-friendly. During our visit, we explored several highlights: β€’ California Tower (beautiful historic architecture) β€’ Japanese Friendship Garden (peaceful and well designed) β€’ The massive Fig Tree with its impressive root system β€’ Desert Garden β€’ Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden What stands out most is the variety architecture, gardens, museums, open spaces everything in one place. Visited Balboa Park and honestly, this place is way more than just a park. It feels like a mix of culture, history, nature, and architecture all in one. The Spanish-style buildings are absolutely stunning β€” especially around the California Tower area. Every corner feels like a perfect photo spot, and if you go around sunset, the vibe is just unreal. What I liked most is that you can enjoy a lot of the park for free. You don’t have to enter every museum to have a great time. Just walking around, enjoying the gardens, and watching street performances is already worth it. That said, the park is HUGE. If you don’t plan your route, you’ll end up walking a lot more than expected. Also, some museums can get pricey if you try to visit multiple in one day. Overall, this is definitely a must-visit in San Diego. I’d recommend going early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid crowds and enjoy the best atmosphere.
