San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and San Diego follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Another Desert Garden in CA? Yes, still worth the visit. A lot of succulents cactus, and other arid plants. Walking through the paths also allowed us to see wildlife. Well-maintained pathways are clean, dog-friendly, and kid-friendly. No wheelchair accessible on some paths.

The Desert Garden is a beautiful place to visit and explore trails with beautiful cacti and views of Balboa Canyon. Itβs free admission, which is great; I found a bunch of Echinocactus grusonii, my favorites.

The Desert Garden at Balboa Park is a lovely spot for anyone interested in cacti and succulent plants. The garden showcases a spectacular array of these resilient plants, with hundreds of species from around the world. Itβs fascinating to see the variety of shapes, sizes, and colors that these desert-dwellers come in, and the garden is well-maintained, making it a peaceful place to explore. However, while the Desert Garden is certainly interesting, itβs not what I would consider an absolute must-see, or "incontournable," if your time in the park is limited. Itβs a great addition to a day spent in Balboa Park, especially if you have an interest in unique plants, but there are other attractions in the park that might offer a more comprehensive experience of what Balboa has to offer. That said, itβs still worth a visit if you have the time and enjoy exploring diverse plant life.
