Spent a few hours walking around looking at old buildings and learning about the history of San Diego. Lots of shops selling things that you may not need or know you want until you get there. Plenty of Mexican restaurants and candy stores. Fun place to spend a few hours, grab a drink, eat some food, and do a little learning.

Old Town San Diego is one of those places that's both fun and full of history. Walking through the State Historic Park feels like stepping back into the 1800s — over 200-year-old buildings, a haunted Whaley House, museums, art shows, and a colorful market full of handicrafts. It's the kind of place where you can easily spend half a day just wandering. The Mexican food scene is what really sets it apart, though. There are over a dozen restaurants serving up fresh tortillas, big plates, and even bigger margaritas in festive outdoor settings. Casa Guadalajara, Café Coyote, and Old Town Mexican Café are all popular for good reason. Add in some quirky shops, live music, and a relaxed atmosphere, and you've got a great way to spend an afternoon. Free to walk around, easy to get to, and unique to San Diego — definitely worth the stop.

I would definitely get here early because even though there’s so many parking lots on a holiday weekend it does fill up fast. There’s a lot of restaurants and places to have desserts 🍨 so come hungry but also wear comfortable shoes there’s a whole lot of walking involved once you get here . Lots of places to buy trinkets and leather goods . There’s seven bus tours and walking tours so do get those in advance so you’re not waiting so long . They had live music and balloons 🎈 for Mother’s Day weekend stay informed on currents events on their website or social media .

Old Town San Diego is a good place to visit or even stay while visiting San Diego California. There are beautiful hotels and a lot of Air BnB's to stay at. There are also many excellent Mexican restaurants to choose from, such as Old Town Mexican Cafe, our Family's favorite. Also a wonderful Catholic Church~Immaculate Conception if you need a place to worship. If you want a fun SHORT and small golf course there is an executive type course even Tiger Woods played and won on when he was about 7 years old; It may be a good for youngsters, but great to tune up your short game if you are an adult. Be sure to see all Old Town San Diego has to offer next time you are in San Diego California🙏🏼😇

Visited Old Town San Diego State Historic Park and it honestly feels like stepping back in time. This place is known as the birthplace of California, and you can really feel the history as you walk through the preserved buildings and old-style streets. What makes it even more interesting is the strong Mexican influence. The colorful shops, live music, and authentic Mexican restaurants create a lively and unique atmosphere you won’t find anywhere else in San Diego. The food here is definitely worth trying — especially tacos and margaritas. It felt very authentic and full of flavor. Even just walking around, taking photos, and enjoying the vibe is already a great experience. The best part is that most of the area is free to explore, so you can take your time without any pressure. However, it can get quite crowded during peak hours, and some shops feel a bit touristy and overpriced.
