San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Diego is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

What a find! They specialize in a “fika” style coffee bar which is a Swedish word for coffee break. The numbers latte is truly special, it’s sooooo good. I haven’t had any pastries but they look amazing, I’ll most likely come back.

We recently visited and had the most incredible experience! We tried their signature latte, "Stockholm in the Morning," which was absolutely delicious—the notes of rose, honey, and subtle sweetness were perfectly balanced. My mom completely fell in love with it! We accidentally ordered it hot when we meant to get it cold, but the way the staff handled our mix-up was next-level hospitality. When we asked if we could switch it to hot, they were so incredibly sweet—they told us to keep the cold one anyway, made us the hot one right away, and even gave us three vegan chocolate balls to try just as a nice recommendation, not even because of the inconvenience! I want to give a massive shoutout to Alicia! She was absolutely wonderful, kind, and made our visit so memorable. I highly, highly recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing coffee and genuinely sweet service. We will definitely be back!

Goldchild Coffee is a must-visit if you’re in the area. I flew in from the Bay Area and didn’t want to leave without experiencing it, and it was absolutely worth the trip. The owner greeted me—and every customer—while roasting at the roaster right at the entrance. He took time to explain the differences in roasting the beans light, med to dark. I was impressed by his dedication to quality as I watched him hand-pick beans that didn’t meet the standard. This was my first time seeing coffee roasted up close, pretty cool experience. The warm, comfy interior made for an inviting visit, and the baristas were friendly with smiles. I ordered the Elevated Pour Over. The flavor notes were pronounced and became even more noticeable as the coffee cooled. A very pleasant experience overall. Don’t miss Goldchild Coffee if you’re in San Diego.

Amazing experiance. Very chill vibe. There was a line and I was happy to wait and so was everyone else. The owner(?) Is personable and takes a lot of care in what he does. Despite the line behind me. I didn't feel rushed out the door. I ended up with two pour overs and the second I recieved wasn't on the menu. I love interesting coffees and they were both great with one having a little more clarity and funk then the other. I really appreciate the communal bar design that lends itself to conversation. A must stop next time I am in town!

One of the best coffees I’ve ever hard. Crafted art, true passion, excellence and love for the world of coffee. If you love great coffee or you’re a coffee aficionado, this is a must-do cafe experience. The staff are friendly and courteous and the artists chilled and cool without being pretentious. You won’t be disappointed, probably one of the best coffees in the world. Roasted on site.
