My husband and I went this morning to pick up Vienna hot dogs after calling and being told that they had them. It turned out that the delivery was late and no Vienna . THIS IS WHEN YOU FIND OUT HOW GOOD THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS in how they handle a situation when a mistake is made. They were so apologetic and not only offered to deliver them to us in El Cajon (we said we would come back) but sent us home with other equally tasty hot dogs for free! Very generous of them. We don't come here very often but on the way home I told my husband that we have to come out more often. Great products and Great service. We will see you soon! Thank you for your kindness.

The meat was brown/grey upon preparing to cook it hours after purchasing from their store. When I’m purchasing meat from the butcher, I expect it to be fresh, not 2-3 day old meat. Nonetheless, we cooked it and used it for dinner. The day after, it was a day worthy for the pipes. I’m thankful that I didn’t clog up the entire neighborhood’s sewage. I’ve never had an issue with butcher meat until I went here. Additionally, the liquid in the pan was not blood. I’m not even sure what it was but it definitely didn’t come from the cow when it was slaughtered. This makes me feel like I even got more screwed over. Adding water or additives is what grocery stores do, this butcher should hold themselves to a higher standard. I will not be shopping here ever again and quite frankly, I want my money back.

We have been long time customers of Iowa Meats (farms) and up until now had always had a really great experience. My husband and I purchased a slab of St. Louis style Ribs from the case and I should have known better than to purchase these when I saw that they were in a shrink wrap with the name of a company I'd never heard before, usually when we buy ribs from Iowa meats, they're not prepackaged, they look fresh and they taste wonderful suffice it to say that was not the case this time. We spent $22 dollars for a slab of saint louis style ribs, $13.99 for uncured, hot dogs in natural casing and $8.99 for hot links all tasted like garbage, the ribs we're cooked on our Trager, which is how we always cook our ribs and the meat was just foul smelling and off tasting and the texture was very tough and chewy, the hot dogs were salty and tasteless and the hot links we're lacking in flavor and heat as well. This really saddens me as this was our go to place for good quality meat. Given how expensive our purchase was I expected better I was going to just contact the store directly but I think it would just be a waste of time. Sadly, we will no longer be shopping at Iowa Meat farms.

I was raised in a small town and this butcher shop has that feel in the big city of San Diego. Everyone who works there will greet you, and after a few times there, it's like you're home, by how they remember you, and how welcoming they are. Prices are a bit higher than your supermarket prices but the quality is head and shoulders above them. To their in house ground Chuck (which is delicious) to homade meat loaf, cooked packaged homemade meat balls, and even the finer cuts, they make dinner easy and delicious. Cannot not recommend high enough. We are set to leave San Diego on a new set of military orders, and one of the things I will miss the most, is Iowa Meat Farms.

Excellent gourmet market which sticks harder to find organs and meats, such as ostrich, venison, boar; beef sweet breads, fries, kidneys; rabbit and quail; pork heart, liver and brain. Amazing selection of condiments and an impressive selection of wines. I highly recommend this shop!
