American restaurants typically run lunch and dinner services with a quieter stretch in between, coffee shops open early, and many kitchens close earlier on Sunday. Cards and tap-to-pay are accepted almost everywhere, a tip of 15-20% is customary for table service, and sales tax is added at the register.

San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Diego is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

β€’ I placed a Thanksgiving catering order from The Tin Building via online site Mercato for pick up on Thursday, November 28th between 12 – 1pm β€’ I arrived for pick up and was given 5 sealed boxes. β€’ I arrived home and the main course (turkey) was missing from the order, and I was given only side dishes (mashed potatoes, mushrooms, etc.). β€’ I called and emailed the restaurant and Mercato at approximately 1:53pm on Thursday, November 28th. β€’ The manager, Luis Diaz, emailed called me and texted me and said he would have a turkey immediately delivered. Sofia Posada Blancafort, Operations Manager, at Mercato had a single task to coordinate delivery of the turkey and she couldn’t deliver. The turkey arrived almost 4 hours late. β€’ The turkey arrived at 5:30pm, after our guests have left. β€’ On Friday, November 29th, the restaurant agreed to refund 50% of the order or $447.63. β€’ December 2nd, I receive a refund from Mercato for $285.90. β€’ This still leaves a refund of $161.73 remaining. β€’ I keep receiving promises of the additional refund, but nothing has been credited. β€’ Sofia Posada Blancafort asked me not to call her cell phone and continued to give me the run around. I would never use M

I like Mercato because they work with local businesses in NYC such as Myers of Keswick, which carries products from the UK including the famous Cornish pasties and steak & kidney pies. Anyway, the service was great and on time! Highly recommend it!

We recently placed an order for curbside pickup at our local food co-op through Mercato. The order entry process on the Mercato site was straightforward and easy to use. Once our order was placed we were able to make changes to the order with a phone call no closer than 24 hours before pickup day/time. Customer service was prompt, very courteous, and efficient. If items were out of stock, customer service made excellent substitution suggestions in real time with a quick phone call. Pickup was made as scheduled with no delays. It was definitely a great experience in customer service. We would use Mercato again.

I recently tried out Mercato for my meat deliveries. I love them so much, I will be using this regularly. The meat came sealed and in a reusable green tote bag!

I used this service a couple of times recently to order from the best produce store in the neighborhood. In terms of the variety, quality and price of the items, my orders were far better than those I've made on Amazon Fresh. The delivery service has been flawless and very efficient. Everything arrived well packed and in good shape. I especially like the option of automatic replacement for out-of-stock items: they only replace them when very close substitutes are available. Nevertheless, I have to acknowledge that great part of my good experience using Mercato is due to the quality of the store.
