I experienced gross negligence with their anesthesia team during major surgery as well as post op infections, both causing significant trauma and pain. The only positives were the amazing nurses (all except OR nurse) who were among the best I've ever interacted with. One even advocated for me when I had no hospital room due to the doctor forgetting to put in orders. I experienced a major injury during surgery, significantly affecting my quality of life.

I feel so fortunate to have chosen this Birth Center for my delivery. I just gave birth less than a week ago and I want to leave my review before I forget the amazing experience. From prenatal, birth and postnatal care I had the best of both worlds with UCSD. A medical system with a more holistic and less intervention approach. The nurses and midwifes carry a tight ship and are working with you to bring life to this world. I adored one of my midwives Christine Cortes, the way she cares and explains things for you, handles your strugles with such care, she is amazing. Also the nurse Lizzy and midwife Ivy who helped me deliver my baby were amazing! they gave me the power to have an unmedicated birth. I also highly recommend having a private doula if possible, their onsite volunteer doulas are not guaranteed. Like any medical facilities they are not perfect, but what they do everyday is hard work that should not be taken lightly, they are soldiers of birth. I do think they need more support on fixing a few things inside the rooms for minor maintence. They took such good care of myself and my baby. I am very satisfied withmy experience. They offer you food, which you need to test it

UCSD has failed us again and again. From the very start, the patient care has been horrible. My wife was talked down to and treated arrogantly by the doctors. Pre-care and post-care things were overlooked, mistakes were made, and we were not taken care of. She was dismissed and discharged from the hospital without proper follow up care, without proper pain management, and critical medications were forgotten. Within 24 hours we were dealing with a serious medical complication that could have been avoided with proper care. I will add that the nursing team was excellent and caring, but that does not make up for the horrible care the doctors and the system provided. They truly do not care and you are looked at as a means to bill insurance. My trust is lost in this system. I hate giving bad reviews but I gave USCD Healthcare systems so many chances to make this right.

My husband had major surgery nearly 2 weeks ago. Everyone we came into contact with was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful - everything you could ask for when a loved ones health is concerned. From the team in the Rapid Recovery Unit, to the nurses on the surgical recovery unit (J4), to the staff in the ICU and back to another to J4 for more recovery. Early on in his stay we had one minor glitch with the food service, but I reached out to the UCSD Medical Center patient experience department, and not only received an in-person visit, but a detailed follow up by email. I have been staying in my husband's room (including in the ICU) and have been treated so kindly by all of the staff. I've been given blankets, pillows, and a pretty comfortable convertible couch to sleep on. They even provided me with some toiletries, as I only expected to be here for 2 nights -- not 2 weeks! The cafeteria has a wide range of food and beverage offerings, open from 6AM - 8:30 PM. There are plenty of places to sit, gaze out the windows and try to de-stress. I found the Serenity Room to be especially peaceful, as well as some of the outdoor gardens/fountains/paths. Far too many people to publicly

Here was my experience on March 31, 2026. I wanted to start off by saying my brother received amazing care and I can’t thank the ICU doctors, NPs, RNs and staff enough. They allowed us to pack his room full of loved ones to see him off and I will be forever grateful for the mercy and grace of those staff. Knowing he left this world surrounded by so much love brings me such peace. There was one NP in particular who we couldn’t have done this without but I can’t recall her name. She explained everything thoroughly and honestly and guided us through the entire day with such respect I can’t possibly thank her enough. At one point a case manager came in asking if we had followed up with Sharp on his insurance and other related financial questions. To be fair, I was rude and she asked if it was a good time to discuss. I told her we were all gathered there to say our good byes. She apologized profusely and I don’t fault her - I realize they aren’t tracking progress from the clinical aspect. However, going forward maybe there should be a policy to check with the care team prior to engaging with the family. While I know bill payment is important to the hospital and these are issues that ne
