Overall great hospital! My wife and I have been coming here for a while and we just recently got back with our newborn who was born a few weeks ago at this hospital. The entire staff is incredibly amazing and caring. Major shout out to Dr. Campbell, Dr. Martinez, Russell the postpartum nurse, Phyllis the lactation Nurse and to everyone else who has helped or is helping with the care of our baby girl Eliana❤️. If this was a review for the OR, I’d give 10 big stars. But this review includes the ER which I give 0 stars to. The ER here not only lacks compassion from the doctors but also knowledge. My back seized up with debilitating pain, I could barely walk. I communicated to the physician on duty that I might have endometriosis. I was dismissed and basically told to suck it up. PLUS the doctors here are billed separately from the hospital, too. It’s weird. Don’t come to the ER but great spot for scheduled surgery.

This two star review is not for the hospital (which was awesome!), but for the for the William W. and Barbara Smith Cafeteria on the first floor of the surgical wing. We spent the day awaiting the wife's sister's surgery and visited the cafeteria for a late breakfast. While the venue was clean, bright, and well appointed and prices reasonable, the food was just plain awful. Food from the "steam table" was either cold or tepid at best. Potatoes Patty's and tater tots were cold and rubbery for lack of a better description. A good selection of condiments was provided and included guacamole, sour cream, salsa (likely from a jar), jalapeños and the like which was a nice touch had they been freshly prepared. The Starbucks coffee bar was a plus as was the good selection of canned sodas and the like. If you should have the misfortune of having to eat there, select something from the grill--at least it will be hot (if not tasty). I was really disappointed as the venue presents well, has ample seating, nice views, a conference room, and a patio but I will ensure I dine elsewhere in the future. They really could and should do better--the hospital staff and visitors deserve it.

I recently had an experience in the Emergency Department at Scripps Memorial Hospital, and I would like to recognize Dory D. and Beth J., both ER nurses, for their exceptional care and professionalism. From the moment they assisted me, Dory and Beth demonstrated a high level of clinical competence, attentiveness, and compassion. They communicated clearly, remained calm under pressure, and made sure I felt informed and comfortable throughout the entire process. Their ability to balance efficiency with genuine patient care truly stood out. In what can often be a stressful and fast-paced environment, their professionalism and reassuring demeanor made a significant difference. They went above and beyond to ensure that my needs were met promptly, safely, and respectfully. Scripps Memorial Hospital is fortunate to have such dedicated and skilled ER nurses on their team. I am sincerely grateful for the care I received and would highly recommend their Emergency Department based on this experience.

Marissa was truly exceptional during my stay at the hospital. From the moment she began caring for me, her professionalism, kindness, and dedication were immediately clear. Being in the hospital can be stressful and uncomfortable, but Marissa made a huge difference in my experience. Her customer service was beyond exceptional. She was always attentive, compassionate, and genuinely cared about my well-being. She took the time to listen, made sure all of my needs were met, and consistently went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and supported. It’s rare to come across someone who brings both such a high level of skill and such a warm, caring attitude to their work. Marissa truly represents what great nursing care should look like. I’m incredibly grateful for the care she provided during my stay, and the hospital is very fortunate to have someone like her on their team.
