Medical services in California range from neighborhood family practices to major hospital systems. Ask whether the provider accepts your plan (Medicare, Medicaid or a private insurer), what the copay is and whether a referral is required. Pharmacies can advise on common ailments and many medicines are available over the counter, but a proper diagnosis from a doctor is the safer route for anything that lasts more than a few days.

Finding Long Beach Specialty Acupuncture has honestly been one of the most (if not the most) significant steps in my healing process. I've been receiving care from Melani at Long Beach Specialty Acupuncture regularly for almost a year, and not only has she helped me achieve incredible progress, but she's given me hope. When I first considered trying acupuncture almost a year ago, I had been struggling with chronic hypermobility/hEDS, fascial dysfunction, and proprioception issues for more than 5 years. These issues severely limited my ability to work, perform basic activities of daily living, and enjoy any aspect of my life. Before Melani, I had seen several doctors, none of whom could help. In fact, some of them made matters worse. At 37 years old, I felt like most of life might be over. My initial consultation put me at ease and made me feel heard. Melani was the first doctor who not only listened to me but also sought to truly understand what I was going through. She sees clients as whole people. In addition to providing excellent care, Melani is deeply compassionate, empathetic, and intuitive. She's helping me cope with the emotional and psychological turmoil of feeling betr

Melanie was a critical part of the healing of my shoulder as I have been recovering from a partial tear. When I started seeing her I had a nearly frozen shoulder with considerable, consistent pain. While trying to avoid surgery and waiting on orthopedic care and physical therapy she was able to get my muscles working again, restoring movement and greatly reducing pain (to the point where I could decline a steroid shot and still effectively engage in physical therapy.) She did a great job setting expectations, explaining how the therapy would progress and adjusting to how my body was reacting. I strongly believe that treatment with Mel was the key to my recovery and ability to avoid more invasive medical intervention. I cannot recommend her more highly and feel so fortunate to have worked with her. Her staff is also extremely welcoming, friendly and professional.

I was a new client, and was very impressed from start to finish. I was able to fill out all the necessary paperwork online before I went which was fast and saved time when I arrived. She really took her time to fully understand my issues and explain to me a course of treatment she thought would get to the root of the issue. Although I had done Acupuncture before, she was very reassuring and answered all of my questions to the best of her knowledge. During treatment I felt a surge of energy a couple times and my lower back release. I would definitely recommend Acupuncture to anyone as a treatment option. I will definitely be going back.
