For a place to eat or drink, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open now, how long is the wait at peak hours, and does the menu suit the group you are bringing. American restaurants typically run lunch and dinner services with a quieter stretch in between, coffee shops open early, and many kitchens close earlier on Sunday. Cards and tap-to-pay are accepted almost everywhere, a tip of 15-20% is customary for table service, and sales tax is added at the register.

I work in the Financial District in DTLA and this is the closest American BBQ place near my job. I've gone here about 3-4 times in the past year and the food at this location has gone downhill faster than a bobsled with rocket boosters going down an ice hill! The first couple of times I went, the food was decent, and I was going to initially write my review on those previous visits but kept forgetting. Here we are after a handful of visits and I have nothing good to say about what I experienced today. I ordered a one-meat platter, with ribs and mac-n-cheese, then added and additional side of BBQ beans because I had remembered that they were pretty good the last time I had visited. I don't know if they got a new cook, new management, or both, but these beans would probably have been rejected by a homeless person! They were half-cooked, meaning they were on the crunchy side of things, and the deep BBQ flavor that I remembered from my last visit was gone. A hard no on the beans. The mac-n-cheese had changed, they were using spiral noodles this time with what seemed like some store bought cheese sauce, nothing about this dish screamed homemade to me. Flavor was meh and I could have

I was treated to a Father’s Day dinner at Maple Block Barbecue with my family, so here’s a review of my experience. My sons made a reservation for 6:30 p.m. When we arrived, the smell of barbecue was fantastic and immediately got our hopes up. The atmosphere looked greatβ€”busy and lively, but not overwhelmingly crowded. My sons checked us in, and we were told our table would be ready in about 10 minutes. Fifteen minutes later, they checked back with the host and were told they were still waiting on a table. It was Father’s Day, so I understood that things would be busy. As we waited, more families arrived, many of whom also appeared to have reservations. One thing I found interesting was the layout. The main entrance from the street is quite a distance from the host stand, so we moved over to the side entrance near the parking lot to stay closer to where guests were being seated. I honestly felt bad for the host. She seemed overwhelmed and was struggling to keep up with checking people in and seating guests. It appeared the restaurant may have been understaffed for such a busy holiday crowd. While waiting, we overheard that they had run out of chicken. No problemβ€”we figured we’

06/02/2026 I had just came back from exploring "Angel's Flight" across the street and I was ready to try some fatty Bbq brisket. So I ordered the half pound brisket and honestly, I don't care what people are saying negatively about this place because it was one of the most if not the most delicious Bbq brisket I have ever tried. The meat falls off as I slowly pick it up from the plate and it just melts in my mouth. I knew I was gonna keep on coming back for more.

Came in here for a brisket sandwich, and a side of coleslaw. Place was pretty empty. After waiting around 15 minutes, we finally got our food. The brisket was DRY, specially the edges. The edges had a rubbery texture.😏(see video) Cole slaw was super bland and had an off color. Like it been sitting out for a while. The best thing about this place was the music they were playing in the background .πŸ˜… $31 for the brisket sandwich and coleslaw, never again.

Good location to have a beer outdoors and enjoy a bit of the downtown vibe. Just don't expect too much from the food or service. A nice variety of beers on tap. This is a walkup service. Food and drinks are ordered at the bar. Seating is on a first come basis. Food quality is average to sub par. Chicken salad can with burnt pieces of chicken. The Mac and cheese didn't have the flavorful gooey taste you would expect . The well seasoned fries were definitely a hit so were the tri-tip tacos even though they were on the bit of experience side. Service was ok. We had to clean our own tables. I would recommend purchasing food elsewhere in Grand Central Market and just purchase your beverage here.
