I moved to the neighborhood last June. My first time living back in San Dego proper since I was in my 20's. I really like this neighborhood. Finally took my first walk through it a few weeks ago. I live on Olive. If I stood in the middle of the street and a wave hit me from behind , it would carry me straight down the street , across 54th and smack dab into the library! I like that...like that it's just nestled , right there next to the fire department. And so it kind of bums me out that they'll be moving , as new ground is about to be broken up the road off College Drive I believe for a new library. Maybe that's exciting news for them , though. A shiny new , possibly bigger facility. Which is awesome. But the charm of where it is NOW will be gone. So I will enjoy where they are while I can. Staff is friendly , looks like they have a lot going on there for the community throughout the month. I like to see what books they have for sale , although I sadly missed the big yearly sale last weekend , darn it.

The Oak Park Library is celebrated for its strong commitment to the community, featuring a dedicated staff and a wide array of resources. Patrons often commend the librarians for their helpfulness, as well as the engaging teen programs and family-oriented events, such as holiday workshops, which foster a welcoming environment. While there have been discussions regarding specific events in the past, users consistently value the library as a vital community hub that offers more than just books, including access to computers, various programs, and assistance with healthcare navigation, making it a cherished space for individuals of all ages.

I went there one night to study for a major college course with only an hour to spare and some little unruly teenage child kept screaming in there for no reason. The staff said nothing and allowed it. You could imagine how I felt. I felt like I was in a Walmart. I thought it was always law to be quiet in the library. Has the gov. indoctrination reached out to libraries as well?
