Despite the honorable attempts of the staff, this library is slowly dying. While the building is beautiful, that cannot make up for the clear lack of funding this library has. Very few activities are offered, and staffing is evidently Low, with the used book shop rarely open. In addition during my time Volunteering there, I saw several programs sadly cut short, including my own. I would recommend the Penasquitos library instead, as it has many more Staff and evidently is much better supported.

Opened in November 2024, this modern, Santa Barbara–style neighborhood library feels like a glimpse into the future. It reflects the quiet prosperity of its surroundings, where homes average nearly $2 million. Sitting just across the street from Canyon Crest Academy—the top public high school in San Diego County—it’s surrounded by elegant Spanish-style apartment buildings and is a short stroll to The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch. Bright, airy, and thoughtfully designed, it’s hands down the best public library in San Diego County. It sets the benchmark for what future libraries should aspire to be: beautiful, functional, and deeply connected to the community.

Beautiful Library in Pacific Highlands. Friendly and welcoming staff. Many seating area to accommodate for those who like to sit to read, use their ipads, the library computers or their own laptops. A room for kids activities. Plenty of parking in the parking lot or on the street.

A newly opened SD public library, the second in Carmel Valley. All books and facilities are new. Plenty of children's play areas, reading nooks and tables inside and out. The Idea lab offers a 3d printer, a laser engraver and more. Conference rooms are bookable. Convenient location close to PHR plaza village, PHR rec center and park, Pacific trails middle school and CCA high school. Will become a community favorite.

Beautiful new library! Staff were helpful and friendly. Opening day was busy but everyone was there to help. Facility is state of the art. Every seating area has outlets within reach. It’s a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. We are so excited to have a library nearby!!
