Very interesting Asian fusion restaurant… I had an expectation of having “authentic Taiwanese” foods but it was definitely not. It had its own style and it turned out pretty good. The vibe and surrounding was very pleasant and relaxing.

I absolutely adore a place like this! Affordable good food and easily accessible to everyone. The prices are great for the amount of food you get too. They are a Taiwanese restaurant with lots of variety and is served quick casual style. They have a little market up front with fun trinkets too. You can’t reserved for a small party but it’s a pretty quick turn and first come, first served. No dedicated service but they are helpful if needed. Definitely will be back!

Had a long layover in LA after my flight to San Francisco got canceled, so instead of sitting at the airport for 6+ hours, I decided to finally check out Pine & Crane in DTLA. It’s been sitting on my saved list for a while, and honestly, this turned out to be the perfect opportunity. The space itself is bright, clean, and welcoming with warm woody tones throughout. Casual setup where you order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. I had already looked through the menu beforehand, so the real challenge was narrowing down what to order for one person. I failed at that… and I’m very happy I did. Started with the Pig Ear Salad 滷豬耳朵. Braised thin sliced pig ears dressed with soy sauce, chili oil, sesame oil, scallion, and cilantro. OMG. So good. Tender, flavorful, perfectly braised, with that satisfying chewy texture done right. Also got the Fried Peanut Salad 五味花生 with garlic, cilantro, scallions, vinegar, and Thai chili. Super crunchy, bright, refreshing, and honestly addicting. I added a cup of the Hot & Sour Soup 酸辣湯 too. Organic tofu, beech mushroom, carrot, bamboo, woodear mushroom, and egg. This is a great place to try Taiwanese food! Although it’s not as authentic as the one I tried in Taiwan, but it still tasted great. My friends and I shared the pork rice, which was a big size. Popcorn chicken is a little bit salty to me. And we all love the shaved iced !!! Must try the shaved ice, each part of ice is covered with brown sugar and dense milk, it’s so good, would definitely comeback for the shaved ice. Breakfast: we came back for its breakfast menu, but it wasn’t as good as its lunch menu. The rice roll was smaller than I expected and not filling at all.

Visited Los Angeles again with Hubby on his business trip. Decided to look for authentic Taiwanese Food this time around. 😄 Since traffic in LA is beyond crazy 🤪, we found one near downtown LA closer to the hotel we are staying at and found this place! To authenticate the Taiwanese flavor of this restaurant 😋, we went with the signature dishes such as Beef Noodle Soup and LuRuo Fan. They are pretty good and we enjoy the taste. We really enjoyed the decoration of this place! The atmosphere and the environment was a big plus in my book. Of course, had to officially end the meal with the Taiwanese shaved ice to complete this experience! The only complaint was the location of our seatings which has a lot of traffic and the space was very tight. Overall we really enjoyed the food and the restaurant as a whole - will recommend.
