I could give her zero star if I could for this location The staff, especially one woman who appeared to be the manager, came across as rude and unprofessional. Another employee in the return section also seemed to have very little knowledge. When customers are paying premium prices, they should also receive premium customer service and knowledgeable staff. I hope REI invests more in customer service and product training so customers feel welcomed, respected, and confident in the advice they receive.

My family and I have been REI members for years and have been enjoying REI's excellent services. The REI bike repair shop staff are wonderful, in particular, we would like to thank Patrick for his thoughtfulness, patience, efficiency, and wonderful attention to detail. Thank you for repairing our bikes to be as good as new and for having genuine and thoughtful professionals.

First time buying at ur store . I bought on line when I purchased item it told me item would be available to pick up at 12.. I live 30 min away so I start driving leaving my home at 12.. I get to the store and my purchase has been canceled because item is out of stock . Sales associate convinces me to get a smaller size since the shoe runs big anyways so I agree he says they show they have 2 in stock he and 2 other co workers start looking for item and no one can find them. Again the system shows they have some in stock but no where to be found. I’m now upset because gas prices are to high to be playing with peoples time and money. This is ridiculous. I definitely will be telling everyone about my horrible experience

As the author of The Most Crucial Knots to Know, How to Keep Your Feet Warm in the Cold, and The Motivated Amateur’s Guide to Winter Camping, I spend a lot of time in gear shops, and REI is one I return to often. The camping section is the core strength here. A wide, organized spread of tents, sleeping bags, pads, stoves, packs, and general gear, with options across multiple price points. It’s easy to compare brands side by side, and the layout makes sense without feeling crowded. As the author of The Grant Colson Thriller Series, I also look at how gear performs in real-world scenarios, and this store keeps the focus on practical use rather than hype. Staff presence is strong, especially in footwear and packs. You’ll usually find multiple employees actively helping with fit and use, not just pointing to a shelf. The team has been consistently knowledgeable and practical in their advice. Checkout is efficient, and lines move quickly. There’s also a used gear section that’s worth a look. It can vary, but when it hits, it’s a great value and aligns well with REI’s approach. For San Diego, the cold-weather selection is modest but useful. Enough to support mountain trips without o
