San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and San Diego follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

WOW! Perhaps if you don’t like answering the very basic travel questions don’t work at the front desk? Obviously traveling from Orange County to San Diego, one would hope to use the bathroom the moment they get off the train. I was informed by extremely uninterested β€˜front of house’ staff that the bathrooms are only for Amtrak customers. Would have taken a lot less time to have given me the code. Thanks team for making an already long and stressful trip that much worse. And of course, the entire sidewalk outside of the station was closed off my construction. Horrible experience.

The building itself is impressive and adds a lot of character, especially if you enjoy taking photos. It was easy to find a quiet place to sit, and security presence nearby added some peace of mind. Still, there was some lingering loitering, and the restrooms were disappointing given the access controls and could be improved significantly.

I had been taking the Amtrak and Trolley for over a year. Moving here from Coachella Valley where public transportation is basic at best, was challenging at first. Learning the different ways to get anywhere in San Diego, this transit Depot was the easiest way to start. You can take the Amtrak and Coaster to get out of San Diego County to any destination from Los Angeles, Riverside and Orange County. I had been using the Amtrak train to travel to Palm Springs quite often and this train station is close by where I stay.. Pretty convenient. The bathroom is a drag to use because only Amtrak customers are allowed to use it. Useful tip: If you ask for the code to use the bathroom to someone coming out, you'll get it. Just ask niicely.
