I had a great experience renting from Thrifty. I arrived around 6:30am with no line and the attendant was friendly and never tried to upsell me. I had my rental car within 10 minutes and the staff were helpful in directing me to it. Returning the car was super easy and stress free. Overall, a smooth experience and would definitely rent again.

Was expecting to get a full size but they didn’t have it. Was able to get it by pre purchasing a full tank of gas. Their gas price was very competitive compared to other gas stations in the area. Daljit had great customer service, she made the long line go quick.

Expect one waiting after another. After you wait at the counter, you will also have to wait to pick up the cars as they overbook all the time. It just depends on your luck if you will get your caror not. The wait for your car after the exhausting counter deal is another hour. It means that the pass they offer is a scam as it doesn't bring you to your car faster.

⚠️ WARNING: Stay Away from This Car Rental Scam ⚠️ I had a terrible experience booking a car rental through Expedia with Thrifty in San Diego, and I strongly urge others to avoid this at all costs. The price initially showed around $85, but by the time everything was processed, I was charged over $200 with hidden fees and insurance that were not clearly disclosed upfront. This feels completely deceptive. When I tried to cancel, they first said it wasn’t possible due to pickup timing, then suddenly “got approval” after I pushed. The whole process was confusing, inconsistent, and extremely frustrating. It honestly felt like they were making things up as they went. To make matters worse, I had to go back and forth with a support agent while traveling, wasting a lot of time and energy just to fix something that should never have happened. Yes, I eventually got a refund—but that doesn’t excuse the misleading pricing and poor handling. 🚫 Hidden charges 🚫 Inconsistent policies 🚫 Stressful customer service experience Save yourself the headache and book somewhere else. This was not worth the time, money, or frustration.

I booked the manager's special, which was a compact or bigger. I got to the counter a bit early. The lady at the counter says that I have to wait or upgrade for an additional charge. I told her I'll wait. There were several others waiting. They were told they had to wait for an hour to an hour and a half to get the car. My reservation time came and I stood in line. The lady told me that I would have to wait to get the car. I told her that I got the manager's special which was a compact or bigger. She said that it was only compact. I showed her the description then she said she did not have bigger cars available. I was number 7 to get the car, so it would take one to two hours or I can upgrade for an extra charge. Usually whe i rent a car and they don't have it when i get to the counter other companies upgrade for no extra charge. I told her that I wanted a refund. She said to call my credit card company. I did and got a cancelation. The manager handling the complaints was rude. I went with fox and got a car within 15 minutes. I will never again book with Thrify!
